I see I got my post deleted for calling Chef a wiseass for making a joke about a women who just lost her house in a fire. So Swedes, let me get this straight. It's OK to make a joke at the expense of a women that just lost her house in a fire (his post is still there), but it a violation of Ballard decorum to call someone a wise ass for doing it.

Do I have that standard stated correctly?

He may have been making a joke but note that BHO had posted nothing on this thread. A thread that was about the tragic loss of a persons home to a fire. If he wants to attack BHO do it somewhere else on the forum where he actually says something. This was not the time or place to attempt to be funny. The best move would have been to offer the victim some condolences and move on.

By the way, does anyone know the victim? Does she have a place to live? Clothes, personal items, etc? Does she have the ability to care for her dog now? Perhaps this would be a good place to try to organize some assistance for her from the Ballard community.

I think this is "local news" and a trend that seems to be on the rise in Ballard: bring your full on camping tent, find some space/grass, set it up, and " Home Sweet Home" (no property taxes of course)

I'm sure YOU have a spare room or two, or even the couch, take a few into YOUR home, provide some "HOPE" . Practice what YOU preach. Seattle and Ballard already have services, no need to set more up, too many "services" now.

Leo, "give an inch, take a mile"...how many tents would it take before you became "offensive", be honest now. Do you own some grass they can use to set up camp, it would only be until the "seasonal work" comes to an end, that would be a nice compromise.

We have a great French restaurant "in the 'hood", called Carnegie's, located in the old historic Carnegie Library, 2026 NW Market St. The owner is also the Chef, his wife is the Hostess, their motto seems to be: " if it's not right, we will make it right!" We love the food and the service is first rate. Try it, you'll like it!

This is soooo UNBELIEVABLE!! When is OUR REDEEMERS closing? Congregation is few in number, just asking....... and just think, then there would be ANOTHER empty BUILDING/X-CHURCH for SHARE to house the homeless, oh joy... GAG ME! Maybe we should provide a FREE SHUTTLE between the shelters, after all, wouldn't want anyone to get WET!
I suppose OUR REDEEMERS is going to host another tent city in the near future too. Again I say, if OUR REDEEMERS congregation is so HOT to help the homeless, (and all others that take that stance) let the homeless live with them, IN THEIR HOMES, they shouldn't have a problem with this! I hope the meeting, May 20th, is PACKED, and PLEASE let someone that knows how to PASS a microphone do it, not the space cadet that did it at the last meeting, he was worthless! WE NEED SOMEONE WITH SOME LEGAL EXPERTISE HERE....HELP!!

To JottoL......The "majority work" what are the rest doing during the day, shopping at the mall?? Work = $=pay your own way! Here's a concept (not a new one) maybe they could pool their money and RENT an apartment together (of course they may have to submit to a back ground/criminal/credit check, oh dear, probably a deal breaker!) Your entire statement: "as for accountability and responsibility blah blah then most of us" ARE YOU KIDDING? Many of us did meet some of these "folks" at the last meeting and after they spoke they FAR EXCEEDED MY PRE-CONCEPTIONS.
