If so Why?

Hi Aaron,

"only 4 out of the top 20 accounts belonged to Academic libraries."
It could be due to the different interest between users of Academic and Public libraries.
My impression on Academic libraries is that they serve a narrow interest. Users come to them for reference materials (I come, I search, I leave).

Public libraries, on the other hand, serve a wider interest (travel guide, novel, cookbook, etc.), and often have out reach program/event to increase readership. And people hang out in library to 'munch' books; to look not only for books within their interest, but also explore new subject. So there is a sense of community in Public libraries.

In short, in one way, public libraries want to attract more readers. On the other way, readers want to reach for more/alternative information. Together they form a community, and Twitter as a social platform makes sense for this, IMHO.

Just my 2 cents. Thinking out loud :)

Re: The Good and Bad Kinds of Crowds

Here are tips from Pistachio on presenting while audience are using twitter: http://pistachioconsulting....
