I have great internet speed, and no issues at the same time watching things like Netflix, HBO, and YouTube TV. From the recent news stories, it seems like they are trying to make a push to correct, but it was so bad I could not take it even though I had $25-worth of extra channels and free HBO for a year. Secretly hoping it does not get better, so I don't regret losing all those freebies if I go back to it.

Re: YouTube TV adds AMC, BBC America, and five other channels to the base $35/month subscription

Good luck. Channel lineup is awesome, especially when I had the intro $35 for the big package. The actual service was so awful and inconsistent, specifically OnDemand, that I had to give it up.

Re: Hands-on with Hulu TV: Great, but I'm confused about the audience

When you mention the price you pay for Comcast TV, are you just talking about the TV price? Or are you actually including the price you pay for each box, the broadcast fee, the regional sports fee, etc?

Sure the TV from cable providers is cheap in theory, until you get your bill. I happily cancelled my Comcast and have been trying out each of these services for the past few months.

Re: Big changes coming to AT&T’s DirecTV Now streaming service

Finally cancelled my DirecTV Now service last night. Only thing keeping me on was free year of HBO, which was unusable. I would rather pay more for services that actually work. OnDemand shows buffer when casting, if they are even available. Rolling with YouTube for now until I can checkout Hulu.

Re: Nintendo Switch Pre-order & In Stock Tracker - NowInStock.net

So the first time I tried Amazon, it said sold out. Several years down the line, don't we have a decent selection of affordable choices that people are saying they will move to instead of a Pixel? Seems like mission accomplished.

Re: [Update: Winners] Win the entire Dead Zebra Android Mini Series 06 collection or one of thirteen other prizes

HOT DOG!

Re: KC Beer Blog: Beer Release Calendars and the Brewery Arms Race

Valid point, unless you consider the main problem being stressed by the blog is that we as beer consumers are too willing to try the new flavor of the month and do not throw as much support to the standard bearers. If a brewery is smart, they are not going to pull a well performing product with a shot in the dark. They are swapping out a low performer with something they think can attract a new base, is a better product, or will perform just as mediocre simply off of people purchasing to say they tried it.

In the case of the last option, then they just do the same thing next year. As a manufacturer of a consumable product, that's what you do to survive. Shareholders gotta eat!

Re: KC Beer Blog: Beer Release Calendars and the Brewery Arms Race

And the point of my original comment is loyalty can be overrated when you stand to gain more market share by growing customers with new products versus losing a few by 86ing a beer that has marginal share. The loyalty argument might hold if they decided to stop doing Pale Ale, not a beer that is a rotational/seasonal.

Or, heaven forbid, we consider the loyal customer who considers Boss Tom's to be his/her least favorite seasonal.

Re: KC Beer Blog: Beer Release Calendars and the Brewery Arms Race

So Boulevard lost their 10 beer drinkers who are strictly loyal to Bocks? Was Boss Tom's that great of a beer that someone loyal to Blvd would stop ordering the entire portfolio the rest of the year because it was dropped? I would say no. Yet Hibiscus Gose is giving Blvd potential access to a new customer/pallet base. Same thing with Radler. Much more valuable than losing a bock-specific customer.

Re: KC Beer Blog: Beer Release Calendars and the Brewery Arms Race

As someone who spent a lot of time helping Untappd clean their database, the app and the growing number of beer tickers is the real issue. Beer drinking has become a virtual game, like many other things in our lives, and it is pretty ridiculous. An app I used to spend hours of time fixing, I only use at this point to log beers I hate or if I truly am in a social session. Logging in to look at my stream and seeing a friend log 60 different samples after a fest where they had 2oz of each is the worst.

What I dislike the most about today's beer culture is the secondary market and beer traders. This is what is driving the hype train and makes it difficult to obtain so many offerings. Someone goes to Side Project and buys a beer for $30. Goes home and immediately sets up a Facebook lottery and makes $200-400. Beer is being highly commoditized and values are set on expectation and reputation rather than purchase price. I just went to Great Taste and immediately when you went in there was an hour+ line to get an ounce of Toppling Goliath Morning Delight. HUNDREDS or other beers available a few feet away. Every brewery is looking to capture that. Yet they get angry when consumers go to the secondary market and turn a profit. Don't want to encourage mobs and beer traders? Don't announce big beer releases days in advance and/or offer limited lotteries.

Re: KC Beer Blog: Beer Release Calendars and the Brewery Arms Race

Not sure you how you can truly fault the big breweries for changing gears. They are constantly trying to capture new customers and stay relevant in the market. Using the Boss Tom vs Hibiscus Gose example, Blvd is trying to gain an access point with a different type of drinker. The dude who drinks Boss Tom's will most likely order a different beer, while (to be stereotypical) someone's girlfriend who does not normally like beer is not going to swap Hibiscus Gose for a Pale Ale. I had to come to the same realization when they cancelled/scaled back Zon product for Radler.

Re: KC Beer Blog: A Worthwhile Growler Filler Kickstarter...Finally!

Sorry, but the GrowlerWerks product looked stupid, and the form makes it difficult to store. The price is also ridiculous, especially when you consider there are places that will not even fill a growler unless it is their own.

This one is not much better. Sure it is only $65...for the actual tap unit. You have to pay another $30 to get the 64oz Klean Kanteen growler they are using it on (which is thin walled for zero insulation). Good luck also storing this one between filling and use. I have a hard enough time getting a normal growler in my fridge, let alone one that needs an additional 4 inches of clearance.

Re: KC Beer Blog: Synek - Future of Take-Home Beer?

Plus, how many places want to sell you 128oz out of their keg? I also usually go to work at 6:45 in the morning, so it's not an issue. This would be a real time saver around 7:30 though.

To DLC's point, I'm pretty sure people returning to the Northland via 635 every night have the worst commute in the city.
