Let’s not forget the exceptional play of Conor Enright for the second straight game. The fact the he plays as hard and tough as he does, knowing he has no backup and will play 40 minutes (or until he fouls out), is really impressive.

I know I'm just a 50-something curmudgeon, but I don't support admitting any PED-aided candidates into the hall. Here's why: I grew up in this era. I followed with great enthusiasm the home run record chases. And as a Cubs fan, the Sosa-McGwire battle was unprecedented good fun. Then when it came out that not only those two, but especially Barry Bonds was a cheater (AND THEY WERE KNOWINGLY CHEATERS) it was tremendously scarring to have those wonderful memories spoiled. I think it's hard for folks who didn't live through that era - as adults - to truly understand why we Gen X-ers feel so strongly about the issue.

Where is Jordan Hulls? I would be REALLY DISAPPOINTED if Jordy was not offered a meaningful role with this team.

I don't blame a kid for testing the waters, and I was glad to see that he's leaving the option of returning to IU open. If coach DD wants him, and he wants to stay, I'd be delighted to have him back for his junior year.

Just hearing how involved Dolson has been in the individual recruiting process is REALLY encouraging. Well, it looks as though we'll have at least 1 player on next year's team!

I wouldn't worry about missing these games. It's fun to see Yogi dominate, but he's the only IU alum who sees any significant time on the floor. If game 1 was any guide, Juwan WOULD be playing more but was injured.

After every "good" game (competing vs Kansas and Illinois; beating Iowa and coming back at OSU for example), I keep hoping that a switch will flip. A lightbulb will come on. That the listless nonsense we saw against PSU in the 1st half vs OSU will be gone for good. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm hopeful once again that THIS TIME THE LESSON WILL STICK. It's never too late to decide you're only going to play heads-up, hard-nosed, team-focused basketball.

MM did do some good things tonight, and it was good to see him hitting the boards. However, his perimeter defense was still pathetic. The biggest example was when we were in a zone & Illinois threw the ball into the post. Goode went right past Mgbako to the wing, got the kick out pass and nailed the 3 - all while Mgbako’s feet were nailed to the floor, guarding nobody. It’s that kind of falling asleep on defense that still happens far too often with him.

My big positive from this game was the improved play of Mgbako. He was white-hot at the start of the game and I think is finally realizing what he’s capable of at this level. If he continues to improve, he’ll be a difference maker in the back half of our schedule.

I liked the fact that Gunn was able to create good shots for himself at will; now he just needs to make a few of them. I predict that we’ll get a breakout game from him before Christmas.

I might be crazy, but I thought that Kaleb Banks' defensive play was really key in disrupting UM when they were at their hottest in the second half. Not a big stat line, but he was really smothering the guards on the high hedges - and I think it really broke the Wolverines' rhythm.

JHS' on-ball defense has been pretty decent in the B1G season, but Perkins absolutely schooled him last night - I saw no effort to defend. He should have found his butt on the bench after the second time his "Olé" defense wound up in a bucket for Perkins. But until X can play CMW clearly doesn't feel comfortable taking JHS out, even when he desperately needs the lesson that only "Coach Pine" can provide.

My 2 takeaways from this game: First, even
if he’s not scoring, JHS is critically important to this team. When XJ has to handle 100% of the ball handling and playmaking, bad things happen. He just can’t handle that kind of pressure. Second, Indiana was badly outcoached. Trayce was double- and triple-teamed every time. That should provide lots of opportunities for us to create easy baskets, but Woody couldn’t adjust (although in fairness nobody but Miller could get ANYTHING to go down.
Get JHS back asap and move on - that’s all we can do.

After watching Texas destroy Gonzaga and IU squeak by Xavier, I have come to the conclusion that we are not (yet) a top 15 team. Aside from Trayce and XJ (who played their best games as Hoosiers IMHO, stupid technical notwithstanding) and some good minutes from Malik (stupid technical notwithstanding), this was a mediocre team. I sure hope that our complimentary players (JHS, MK, RT, JG, TB) can start to play at the top of their game against good competition as well. If not, I fear that UNC will be a deep disappointment.
