Hey David, I really enjoyed reading your writeup. I have some ideas for you to consider.

Breaking Bad is the modern day interpretation of Jekyll and Hyde. The power to bend people to his will never lay in Walt, but in Heisenberg. As soon as Walt made the decision to leave the biz, he also retired the Heisenberg side of his persona. The scene at the carwash is indicative of this. So is the fact that his cancer is back. Walt isn't strong enough to fight off something so life threatening, but the opening scene showing Walt's survival suggests Heisenberg's return. We see when backed into a corner by Hank, Heisenberg eventually reemerges and utters that last chilling line, "tread lightly."
