The beauty of a public blog is that you don't know who is reading it. But I also start to worry about who is seeing it. I don't really want clients knowing about what my cat barfed up this weekend or to see my latest political ranting. Yet I still want to blog those things.

My solution was to split my personality: that's why I have more than one blog. If I had been smart about it, I would have kept my name off the personal blog. But I didn't. My hope is that since it is rather clear which is the personal and which is the professional, people will take it in that context. It's still a risk, but so far it's been okay.

It does make me sad to hear that you feel you need to reign yourself in / censor yourself / only publish what has been mulled over and polished for feel of the reaction it will cause. I hope that if you aren't writing those things here, you are still writing them someplace, even if it is a closed LiveJournal or a paper notebook.

If you watch professional photographers, they don't take just one shot. They shoot the subject from all kinds of angles and lighting, hoping a few of the hundreds of shots come out. They don't expect perfection on the first try. Thoughts are like that too. We need to keep tossing out the absurd, silly, half-baked crazy ones because somewhere in that stream is one or two that are keepers.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, www.missblueberryfists.com is still available.

Re: 3 mins / Montana bound

I swear, sometimes I really think we were separated at birth. I know exactly what you mean about the running away to Montana thing. I spent much time the past couple of weeks imagining life here [ http://www.simondale.net/ho... ].

FWIW, I don't think anyone things you are a slacker. You are entitled and encouraged to take time to recharge. I'm sure it takes a lot of energy to be as amazing as you are. Love yourself as much as I do and give yourself a break. *hug*
