Hi Nick,

There's an option in Acorn's Advanced preferences called "Hide cursor tooltips". You can turn that on and the tips will go away.

Yep! You can use the Export… menu item to select a number of different formats, and even change the bit depth for PNG files so they load faster. If you have specific needs, you can write us at support@flyingmeat.com and point you in the right direction.

What version of Acorn are you using? This feature was added in Acorn 6 (and I just tried it in Acorn 7 and it worked fine)

Hello Peter. What app are you using? Acorn doesn't have a "Feature" menu, and the select palette will come up when you choose a selection tool.

Yes, via the File ▸ Export ▸ Export (Web & Other) menu item. It'll be one of the options in the Format: pulldown.

You could do this with AppleScript:

use AppleScript version "2.4" -- Yosemite (10.10) or later

There's no way to change the color profile though. Something like Retrobatch could do that pretty easily though (until I add the support to Acorn - there's no timeline for that though)

Makes sure you spell Grid Settings… with the correct ellipses. Or, you could just copy and paste the following:

Grid Settings…

To get the ellipses (…) it's Option-; and not three periods. I tried it out on my end this way, and it worked.

Hello Zoey.

If you saved your file in Acorn's native file format (.acorn), then you will be able to edit your shape and text layers after closing and reopening a file.

In this case you can use either the quick mask tool to paint in your selection, or use the regular selection tools to select your area. Then you can use the clone tool to replace the pixels.

There's no background pref for new images, but we can consider it.

You can expand a selection like this:
Make sure your selection tool is enabled
Hold down the option key
Press the arrow key in the direction you'd like to expand it, one press for ever pixel.

When you're on your shape layer, if you bring up the Shape Processor inspector (clicking the (p) button in the toolbar), does it bring up a list of processors that are being worked on in your layer? And if you click on the down arrow button to commit these, does the problem go away?

If you're cutting and pasting bitmap layers, then when you paste it'll put the image on the clipboard onto a new layer.

Cutting should work fine in Acorn. What command are you using to cut the selection? And what's the result when yo do that? Edit ▸ Cut should do the trick.

Animated GIF is an option in the newly released Acorn 7, as part of the Format: options in the export window.

For the tolerances, we've got it for flood fill and wand selection. It's not there for instant alpha, because that's generally how other apps behaved.

What tools are you wanting the tolerance setting for?

With Acorn's built in color picker, not current (version 7.0). You can bring up the system color picker however, by holding down the command key when clicking on a color wheel, which will have this option.
