Those tweets are terrible! It makes me sick to think people can be that ignorant and intolerant. I'm pretty sure dropping 2 atomic bombs in 2 majors cities filled with civilians in Japan was way worse than Pearl Harbor. But regardless, even I shouldn't be making the comparison. Lots of bad things have been happening to countries at the hands of other for far too long to be counting "points". The disaster in Japan is unimaginable and I'll do anything I can to help out.

I must admit, it was a great show and I had never heard any of those bands before. But I did check them all out and listen to their music the next day. I actually wish Creature could have played a longer set, that's how great they were.

Although I agree with part of what you're saying, I think you might be missing the point. It's not whether we build intelligent machines, one day that will happen, it's not about building machines with a purpose. I'm talking about that day where a machine has been created that is truly alive (the singularity). The point is life is life no matter what package it comes in and we shouldn't have different rules for one kind of intelligent life over another. That type of tiered system will inevitably lead to war, violence and revolution. One we'd be ill equipped to fight. Respect goes further than oppression.

This is a great post. I really wish someone would implement it.
Although, I believe it's a little more complicated when you factor in the twisted relationships the content providers have with the content distributors. (IE NBC and Comcast). They hold each other hostage with lobbyist, legislation, and contracts as a way to ensure a mutual destruction if the model is disrupted. It's shitty for the customer all around.
