It was a joint effort. My husband brined and cooked the turkey, I made all the sides and Pat and Peter made a pecan pie. Yum! Pat and Peter have since moved on to his family's dinner and we are sacked out in front of the tv. Good day all around. What about you?

I've seen novels where the main character narrates in first person, but then when others' thoughts are needed to move the story forward, the author switches to an overview type of voice and even uses a different typeset to make it clear that it's not the main character's voice. I can definitely see the limitations to using only the first person though. Raising a toast to you and Toast and all of the Bill Scheft Nation this Thanksgiving Day. Okay, I'm totally hooked. Here's the thing...I hear Bill Scheft's voice loud and clear in the above, yet there's something else. This seems to be coming from a different place than the previous three novels. It IS something and I can't wait to read more. Thanks so much for sharing. And you already know I love my dogs, so I love this guy who gets right down on the floor with the dog to better receive slobbery kisses. A hero after my own heart.

Yeah, she loves to come from behind. At the first turn the announcer said "...and Zenyatta is DEAD LAST" and everyone cheered because that was right where she wanted to be. Her last strides up to the finish line were amazingly powerful.

I just got home from the Breeders Cup--did you get to see any of the races? Zenyatta finally lost, yet she was a monster in the process. A great race to see in person. Fun day, but cold.

Well, it's been 2-1/2 years since the book came out and this particular blog was launched, so I guess people have moved on to other things. I like to flatter myself that you're a friend, Bill, so I keep up with your blog to keep up with my friend. You and Toast ALWAYS make me laugh so I have to check in on you both every day.

Mickey is such a great subject, his power on the field juxtaposed with his weaknesses in his personal life. I will definitely buy that one. And I still believe that given a promotional push and better exposure, THE RINGER would have sold many more copies. I still dearly love that book.
