Catavino, thanks to Ryan and Gabriella's never tiring energy and creative fantasy, has been a great platform for spreading the word about the Iberian wine scene to the rest of the world.

We Iberians winemakers will be sorry to see you move on, but we all know that is what life's all about! Good luck with whatever comes next!

It is fun looking back, to a time and world so different that the present! Our first bottles of wine were sold and delivered from the back seat of my car, just as so many other wineries have started out. Luckily for us, I already had built up a primitive sales network from our heady days of selling melons in Portugal, so it was an easy switch from melons to bottles of wine!

I also recall (was it in 2006?) hearing on the grapevine about this American couple from Spain, who were doing a 'vinous road trip in Portugal' and if we wanted, we could meet them in Lisbon and let them taste and review our wines - that turned out to be the 1st of many fruitful encounters between Cortes de Cima and Catavino to come! All this talk about blogging and social networking sounded like fun, and it was, and it still is! Thanks for the inspiration and good advice during the years! Keep it coming!

We visited SOLIVE agriturismo in Brescia in November 2009. (Hans was looking at Italian bottling equipment!) They have a great Ristorante! And a lovely view from the winery to Lago d’Iseo!

Wow, indeed! It will be great to visit Austria again, I spent an extended visit there when I was a young girl, and loved the food, people, and wine! You must be able to fit a whole army of winemakers and winebloggers into this palace! Hope lots will sign up!

Thanks for the feedback Phil, we sent wine, (did you try our Incognito- it's never been called a 'budget' wine before?) but couldn't make it to the event itself, as I flew direct from Lisbon to SF yesterday, to have a day or 2 here in California prior to the WBC09 in Santa Rosa. Good luck, I hope to see you as the winner in Lisbon in October ;-)
