It is advertisement, it's just not selling what it looks it is.
No matter how conscious you want to be, Wunderman pieces will probably -
and rightfully - win awards at Cannes this year, and so do dozens of
others. If you and others are not happy with that system, start an award
where only real stuff can take part. If you're successful, you'll be
able to change the poor vision about advertisement, you'll be able to
change the environment.
And since my company does not endorse phantoms, rest assured I'll
subscribe some pieces on it. Hope I win!

Re: Punching

well, I have to say that the whole world is not "PRO" yet as well. Creative freedom as seen on the fake ads is years away from the real thing, online advertisement is still on its tender age.

Re: Punching

Phantom,

It's no secret that 100% (not 99%, I mean 100%) of the banners from Brazil in BannerBlog are fake. So do a lot of european ones. I have to work with real media plans, and European media is tougher than Brazil in size and spec limits. So all those ads are to pump the creative agency portfolio in order to snatch new clients.

It's a bitch to do real banners. Limitations are plenty - flash 6, 18 fps, 30k... argh. So let the creatives soar with funny and nice banners that are fake - they will entertain a limited audience and help the creators on their new business.
