Thusly: calling even results in more flip wins.
Assume: flip wins result in advantage in winning the actual game of Ultimate.
Thusly: the team calling the disc flip has an advantage in winning the actual game of Ultimate.

Question: how do we determine which team is given the advantage in calling the disc flip?

Any thoughts on why Northeastern went to person defense after the timeout? Setting up zone, poach, or box-and-one on horizontal seems like a strong choice in the wind conditions. Was a decision made in the timeout huddle that didn't fit the offensive set, and no one on the field called an adjustment?

As a potential fan in Seattle, with enough money to buy season tickets, I would buy season tickets for a local pro team in mixed gender league.

As it stands, I likely will not attend any games this year. The product was compelling enough for the few games I attended last year, and I enjoyed seeing some of the notable out-of-town players compete, but I am not particularly interested in financially supporting a venture that is not in line with my values.

Furthermore, I have a hard time believing either of the pro leagues are particularly safe business ventures. What's the difference in success rate between a men's league and a mixed league? There probably isn't much data available for that.

How much of the existing financial support for the league, fans and actual investors, care about men's Ultimate versus just Ultimate? ESPN broadcasts all flavors of for USA Ultimate, why not for pro? Are they dealing with different deals? (Paid broadcast versus sponsored?)

I tend to view Ultimate as a vehicle for positive change in the world, as an area where we can push equality even in the realm of financial viability. I would support a pro-league that fully, not just incidentally, supports that positive change and doesn't just hold up its hands and say "people only watch men's sports!"

In fact, I would go so far as to say that this "insight" is simplistic and downplays overall team production in favor of maximizing the retention rate of an individual player.

The Houston Houndz made a huge Championship run on the German in 1999, allowing stars like (young) Damien Scott and Brian Harriford a huge open downfield to exploit. They lost to eventual champions DoG in semifinals, when Boston correctly identified the weakness of a 4-handler spread and poached/clammed in the short field to great effect.

All this is as was retold to me by then Houndz captain, Sandy Ganzell. I'm happy for any further corroboration or, alternately, correction to my version.

I feel that some amount of “not good enough for me” can be reframed as “not well enough known to me.”
That is, one must give someone a chance to be known and prove herself in order to be good enough. Open your heart! And then take small, simple chances with it and grand, foolish chances as well.
