And too often those books get lost and disappear, which contributes to the idea that books with black or brown characters don't sell. I recommend a couple of blogs if you're not aware of them: The Happy Nappy Bookseller http://thehappynappybooksel... and The Brown Bookshelf http://thebrownbookshelf.com/. And while Diversity in YA is no longer, the site is still up with links to many other good writers. http://www.diversityinya.co...

Re: Around the Writer’s Block [Secret Life of an Expat]

Use a timer. A writer friend gave me one for Christmas for a similar reason. It's easier to face the fear and dread when you only have to face it for a few minutes. I set mine for 45 and then could get up and walk away from the desk for 15. Then went back for 45. Only took a few days before I was back in the groove. For a while. Cause the dread comes back. My other bit of advice is to remember where you're at now is part of the process. I haven't met a writer yet who didn't go through it. So don't stress too much about it.

Re: The Most Popular Book Reviewers on Twitter - GalleyCat

Color Online runs reviews of books by women writers of color. http://coloronline.blogspot...

And if you're not speaking strictly of reviews, but sites that discuss books and authors, consider including my blog, White Readers Meet Black Authors www.welcomewhitefolks.blogs...

Re: Books to Movies Week: Before They Were Good Movies, They Were Good Books!

The World According to Garp and Gone With the Wind.

Re: HAUTE LIT: Jacqueline Luckett dishes about her new novel & following your dreams (+ Giveaway!!)

Great Q&A! But it is possible that some of those who start in November will continue writing afterward, thus making Nano the beginning of them becoming "real" writers. What's wrong with taking a month to see if you can make that happen?

Re: mediabistro.com: GalleyCat

Re: mediabistro.com: GalleyCat

Anybody know what Margaret Seltzer is doing lately? Some readers want to imagine for themselves what a character looks like.
