I decided about two semesters into Police Adm. that my advisors were right when they said I was too sensitive to cope with the job. Not soft, just too likely to cross the boundries of being a truly good cop and one who would cross the line and take vengance on the folks who are just out of control, trying to make it any way they can, C.E.O or punk. The difference between those two types is more blurred every day. Another cop lost just shows us all that we seem to be trying to outdo Mexican drug cartels in devaluing life. We all need to maintain , and it is a tough world, but shit , put down the cell phone and the 9mm. Respect, no? Thanks Jeff. Michael.

I appreciate the difficulty of putting a cogent argument relating to the weakening of American values in the face of well financed hypocracy, and well bullshit. Generally speaking , Republicans are so pissed at their own curiosity for sex outside the lines, and the fact they can no longer waterboard or burn sinners, i.e. complex thinkers, at the stake they are ranting themselves out of power. Like a spitting cobra has few friends, theGOP {got our pie) party is facing the reality of a lonely existence in the evolving, and more complex world. When the former V.P. can be unapoligetic over telling a congressman to go fuck himself on the senate floor, and then support the vitriol over as you mentioned the showing of a breast you have to face the fact that your drunkin uncle has been driving the damn school bus for to long. best to you sir, and may God and common sense guide Barack.

Liz, Having read many of your works when you were coping and sharing personal experiences, I found myself thinking " wouldn't it be cool if this lady could shed a little light on issues bigger than the boardwalk? " Boy, was I right. I haven't had access to PW rag lately, and now at 48 yrs. just getting to know the computer thing, and relearn the keyboard. Tough times, tough measures, and you have brought facts, insight and that always critical concept of solutions to the fore.. My search for PW online led me here , and prompted my first response to a format like this. It appears as a response to Rep. Mark Cohen, and sits just below his post of a week ago. You, 2nd. You claim knowledge the city will receive monies from the Fed? Do you believe that between the current city tax policies, the parking authority nightmare, rotting infrastructure and housing stock allow for additional monies to be pulled from anyone besides the drug dealing, contract killing scum that seem to love this town? I agree transparency is paramount, but your claim " no initiatives " is disproven in Liz's work. Yes, I have confidence in her research, and commitment to honesty. Big time. Calm, unifying, in depth analysis of of issues is far more relevant than "aroused expectations ". It may be time to ask residents, are your'e expectations those of adults, or the heir apparents of a city government that ran it's house like Tony Soprano, with the added burden of the 200 + years Philly has been?
