I have always known that eating less foor more frequently is much more healthy than big meals. But I had not thought about the plate issue. I started using small plates for eating and found that I felt just as satisfied after eating the food that fit in a small plate as I did after eating the food that I had piled onto a large plate. In fect, I felt better, more energized, and more positive after eating the small portion. And I know that it does help with weight loss because it worked for me.

Re: If I burn more calories trying to stay warm, why do I get fat in the winter?

Coming from the cold north I could never understand why I still weighed as much as I do and I asked also why I gain weight in the winter ratther than losing. Now I see that it is not the cold but the activity that lead to burnign calories and weight loss. And of course, when the cold weather comes we like to sit indoors and watch the snow fall rather than take a walk in it, or heaven forbid, shovel it instead of using the snow blower. Thanks for your informative blog.

Re: Accentuate the Negative - This is not really what you are thinking:)

My aerobis instructor is constantly telling us the same thing. It is not how many times you repeat a motion or how fast you do it. It is slowness and form that lead to good results and less chance for injury. Thank you for showing that this principle is good for all types of exercise.

Re: Rave reviewed baba ghanoush

I am not a great fan of eggplant but your recipe for baba ghanoush sounds tasty. I know that eggplant is healthy, but like you, I also have trouble getting over the smell and taste of plain eggplant but this recipe seems to solve the problem. And I like the other ingredients. And that Tomato Salad sounds wonderful. I am going to try it for lunch today.

Re: My Body Screams - “Save My Ecosystem”

Thank you for sharing your results in your blog. It saves me from making the same mistake. Too often people say that if you just starve yourself for a day or two you will lose weight. You have shown that not only do you not lose weight but you can damage you body. I am having trouble with the walking part of my weight loss. I get bored too easily when I am walking. What do you do to keep from being bored?

Re: Make your own food - lose weight - guarenteed.

Since I have semi-retired I have been preparing and eating more meal at home. I agree with you. When you prepare your own meal at least you know what you are eating. And it is amazing how many more vegetables I eat when I am home that when I go out to eat. Eating at home used to be a treat, now eating out has become one.

Re: Tortellini and Spinach Chowder - My resistance factor is a big fat 0!

This sounds like an excellent soup. A combination of great tastes and healthy ingredients. I am definitely saving this to try myself.

Re: Weight Training As An Aerobic Exercise - you betcha!

Thank you. Although I do not excercise as much as you do I see the need to vary my program. My water aerobics instructor makes sure to vary our workout each time so that we do not get caught in the grove and that we keep out edge. It has been very successful for most members of our group.

Re: Shrimp scampi - These little sea bugs are dieter’s delite!

Shrimp is my favortie seafood. I was so happy to see the above information. My theory is everything in moderation. That shrimp recipe seems to combine some very healthy ingrediants for a great meal. I have saved it for future reference. Thank you for sharing.

Re: Pay Matters - Inroads in international payments

I found this article very interesting. As a tutor I try to teach my students about international affairs. I linked to the site and was provided with positive information. I have also mentioned the site to a friend who frequently travels abroad.
