Not at all to condine cheating, and no one is accusing cheaters of being smart...but, the smart fix would've been for the guy to immediately ask to change the delivery address.

Unless the confirmation email also contains the GF name and address (which it probably does), then he's poked either way unless wife gets the flowers and doesn't bother reading the email details.

That:

(a) regardless of who you are, debating with unreasonable attendants will get you removed from the flight. And even if you turn out to be completely correct and vindicated, you will still have missed your flight.

(b) anyone, regardless of status, can report safety violations. Having additional avenues to report up simply optimises the reporting process.

And, to loop all the way back to the beginning:

(c) OP could well have become aware of the demotion of the flight manager due to their working in the same organisation. Whether they gained the knowledge officially via formal means, or unofficially via observation or gossip, the demotion is still fact. They didn't require "authority" in the chain of command to be able to become aware of the repercussions.

Um, no, I said that even the off duty attendant would be removed by police for discussion. And that even if they turn out to be in the right, it's already too late.

And, anyone can get information in front of the airline. They just offer it through website or going to the counter etc. Or on Twitter, etc etc etc. Or go to CAA or whatever the local aviation authority is. The OP may have had access to additional channels of communications, but that doesn't preclude "normal" people reporting things.

Even a "normal" passenger could do that, and this would cause ramifications for the flight manager.

It's nothing to do with the OP's "authority". They just were more aware of all the safety violations going on. And, probably had easier access to the chain of command for reporting them due to working at the airline.

Attendants on their personal time don't have any authority on a flight.

Plus, again, the police aren't going to arbitrate that on the plane. They will de-board OP and discuss. Meanwhile, off goes the flight.

I agree, however the problem is that once the crew start claiming you are disruptive and call the police, you'll be removed from the flight despite being in the right.

The police turning up aren't there to adjudicate seating, they are there to assist with keeping the airport flowing - and that means keeping the plane in its departure slot
