so funny- i totally agree! i am totally obsessed with CCC recipes-and had tried maybe a billion-and this one is hands down the best. at this point i make them so often, that usually i just double the batch and leave half in the freezer until the need strikes.

i agree with you that there are a lot of knowledgeable people that can contribute insight, etc. but newspapers are (should be) about reporting. research. & your average blogger/insightful person is giving an opinion. maybe a well researched opinion...but when there is no credibility in the data SOURCE (meaning, you can't write a college paper from wikipedia articles & regurgitated facts from AP & the times) there is no reason to have a newspaper at all.

yes, there are definitely "leanings" in papers-i am not so naive as to think that anything can be completely unbiased. but newspapers pay journalists to get the story. do the grunt work behind the scenes-reading, interviews, data mining, etc. & while there may be unbelievably brilliant bloggers, etc that google could find. but i don't know a whole lot of them that want to work doing the job of a journalist for free. even bloggers want to get paid, and 99,2% of them are simply stating opinions. user generated content is an absolutely valid source to glean current issues, general public opinion & the like. but it is not & doesn't claim to be an encyclopedia. it's one thing if we are talking about movie critics & favorite restaurants. it's a horse of a different colour when the subject is the war in afghanistan or north korean rocket launches.

i don't know what's going to happen with the demise of the paper. which is inevitable. but i don't think it is going to be as easy exchanging news teams for user generated content-not for everything.
