Forked, guys. Let's try all the different ways to word that! "Derived", "Inspired", "Backed", "Remixed", "Rehashed"-- anything would've been better than copycat, which is a terribly negative connotation.

Also, your house style be damned, the official project name is *io.js*. Altering it to match your house style makes zero sense. This is a community owned intellectual property, in which the agreed upon name uses lowercase lettering. One person didn't make this decision, many people did. They've even gone so far as to state their wish that outside parties honor this choice ( https://github.com/iojs/io.... ) and you've essentially just ignored everyone who worked on this project, doubly insulting them.

Finally, the versioning is not just "1.0", but is "1.0.x", which is a versioning standard called "semver"-- which both io.js and Node.js abide by, though Node.js' adherence has been called into question over the years. Upon forking, both Node.js and io.js were at 0.10.x. According to semver, after all the various changes were introduced to the platform, it merits a full "major version" bump-- bringing it to "1.0.x" The io.js team has expressly indicated that the 1.0.x version does not indicate stability, but a departure from adherence to Node.js' versioning guidelines. ( https://iojs.org/faq.html )

Please carefully consider how you write your articles in the future. This is not technical journalism, it's blatant misinformation and a total disrespect for the people who've worked hard to make a project of this magnitude available for free to the internet at large, at great personal cost. This is inexcusable, and poor judgement.

Re: Last Night's Commute Nearly Shattered Astoria's Collective Will To Live

You know, there's more than just Astoria on the N/Q/R lines-- all of which were affected last night. They're the rarity, and its been pretty gentrified for a while now. Hell, speak to our greek neighbors. They'll tell you how many times its been gentrified over a beer at Bohemian. Let's look at all the other MTA properties: you have the Bus system in NYC, you have the LIRR/East/West Corridor trains (amongst others coming from out of state) where drinking is fully legal and encouraged, and you have private charter buses which provide Wifi, allowing you to use the internet freely.

Though judging by your name, you're still in high school and still riding your monday to friday school metrocard ;) There's a bigger world out there, chap. These suggestions are pretty damn accurate and useful.

Re: 7 of the hottest things a woman can wear - Guyism

-stands up- *slow clap* bravo, sir. This is why I had recommended your cloud services next. After getting more idea for scope, unfortunately site5 doesn't offer the specific shared/cloud hosting that would be required for this project without going fully VPS. Your services on a technical level would be either not enough to handle the load, or they would be far too much needed.

Of course, the final bit that made the recommendation shift was the 24x7 phone support. Speaking as an admin and a developer both, I've personally found no fault with your support services, but to those who do not have the same resources available, phone support is an absolute must when things aren't working properly. If there would be anything you could take from this, it would be to try as best as possible to get 24x7 phones as soon as humanly possible-- that's the deal breaker.

Re: A successful Git branching model

Great post! What I'd like to know is this: According to your model, which makes sense on a local scale, remotely (on origin) would possess "master", "dev", and i'm *assuming* "release", when the time for cycle has arrived. Is this correct? And if not, then what does the branch model for "origin" look like?

Re: Application Centric JS Design

The big reason you would use this way over the simplified function methodology is because this reason is a miniature state machine, protecting the code from injection and modification, and furthermore, providing consistent application "states" which can be used as transactional logic. This cuts back on chaining functions to get a simple result, when all that has to be done is to manage the state of the current screen.

For example, I know that my "app" will be "initialized", will have a "ready state" that instantiates all the GUI elements, and will have a transitional "loading" state between async screens. By declaring all run-time only functionality in an init function, including handlers, mappings, and routes, I can define how the application will traverse between states. By declaring all my GUI elements in a ready function, I can split my logic from my design.

Basically, no matter what libraries or JS is used outside of this construct, your application is entirely sandboxed and will work reliably every time-- as well as offering an approach that clearly stipulates actions across each screen, not just calling a function and adding a handler where appropriate.

Re: 10 Killer Google Chrome Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts

Uh huh.
