To be fair though , he's guilty of PLENTY of the "Oh, I know so and so" variety name-dropping, though probably less so now than in the past. I dunno, I stopped reading watching/reading interviews with him long ago. I gotta transcribe that letter I mentioned that was reprinted in the Cimarron Weekend. It's quite funny.

I certainly have no problem with Thurston turning the kids onto new/old sounds ala The Wipers.
Still... I reserve the right to find him irritating AND enjoy Sonic Youth.

I think it's more the amount of times he's name-dropped throughout his career and the fact that he so predictably poses in front of his record collection every chance he gets when filmed that's annoying.
Of course, the world is filled with annoying people who create good things. He's one of them. No need to be an apologist.

yr telling me. I've been wanting to check out 'Revolution Dub' for a long while. I would also add The Upsetters' LPs 'Eastwood Rides Again' and 'Double Sevens' as well as Keith Hudson's 'Playing It Cool' to this already fantastic list.

Thanks man, I'm looking forward to your list. Yeah Brave Radar are great. I kind of think of them as the Beatles to the Vivian Girls' Stones.
I'm looking forward to the new Los Llamarada too. I have a feeling it may be better than the first.

New Nasty On LP is almost ready to release and if I can raise the money I may be out to to a release show for it sometime in the new year. Maybe.

It's a garage of wonders! Photos, paintings, clothes, jewelry, furniture, old toys...all sorts of great stuff. Serious...we are so lucky. AND it's regularly replenished by the owner. An awesome, chain-smoking lady with great/weird taste.
