You better preemptively apologize for ending the world. Because when boobquake happens and a very vengeful God destroys the earth because of the overload of cleavage, it will be too late to say 'I'm sorry.' It was picked up because it was stupid and included boobies. That is like a combination of crack cocaine and gold to the US media. I sincerely doubt that we'll be going to war anytime soon with Iran. There's saber rattling, but neither country wants to or is in a position to start stuff with the other. If, by the rare chance, we do go to war, it sure the hell won't be about boobies.

I believe that the results show the opposite of what the Iranian mullah believed. Boobquake might have had a dampening effect on earthquakes. God may have found it harder to shake the earth if one or possibly both, depending on how manly of a God God is, hands were, how shall we say, busy.

Well, it was Eve's fault that she ate the apple in the first place. Of course, it wasn't God's fault for creating the talking snake, creating the apple tree, planting it in the middle of the garden, and then having the fruit with in reach of Eve. It was a perfect plan, except for the part about the only thing that could destroy paradise being with in easy reach. Nor was it Adam's fault, because it is a well known fact that a man will do anything if a naked woman asks him to do it.

Although in this case, I think this has less to do with religious doctrine, as it does with jealousy. The pope is simply jealous of woman's choices in shoes, dress and hats. His shoes and dress are so tenth century. And his hat... would anyone who owns a mirror and has a scrap of self respect wear that? I bet you he gets boo'ed every time he goes to the movie theater.

One of the great things about this country is that you can offend anyone you like. No one has the right not to be offended. I hear people talking about how people like Dawkins and Hitchens are offensive, which I can see how people might think they are. However, from my perspective people like the pope, Rick Warren, and most preachers and priest that I have come across, are equally offensive. Try listening to a man on television with millions of followers tell you that you have no moral compass, or listening to George H.W. Bush explain that atheist, because of their lack of beliefs, shouldn't be considered citizens. People shouldn't avoid expressing opinions because it could offend someone. Expressing these opinions often shed light on the issue. And sometimes it's the offender and other times it's offendee that is in the wrong. Until these ideas which people consider offensive are confronted in the open, the problems behind those ideas aren't going to be solved. Not to be open about ideas would be to stifle debate and dialog.

People defending minorities, be it is racial, politician or religious, tend to shout the loudest, mostly because they have too. If they don't aggressively defend their rights, then most likely those rights will be taken away. The majority tends to oppress and drown out the minority, in most cases without ever realizing it. Just think how you would react, if your view point was not only not shared by the majority, but in fact frequently demonized by the majority? Hopefully, you would be as loud as the vocal atheists.

If anyone says that atheist are taking over the country, ask them to name one self-described atheist in Congress, in the supreme court or holds a cabinet-level or higher position, or to name one governor, or to name one state, county or city elected government that has a significant number of atheists. Pete Stark is the only member of congress. I am not aware of any other high ranking member of the national government, or of any state government that is an open atheist.

(P.S. Obama is not a atheist. He's Christian. He may not be Duyba's brand of Christian, but he's Christian none the less.)

It's frustrating at times. I was in a systematics lab, where one of the other grad students was a creationist. I don't know how she got into the program. But she was a nice person and all, but it was annoying. Her whole project was based on evolutionary history of certain sensory pits. She gave the answers she needed when she needed to get a degree. I don't know if her opinion changed. I was graduated long before she completed her degree.

Every school as at least one major that really isn't a major, just look for the pre-meds and football players. After TAing a several biology class, my opinion of pre-meds has greatly diminished.

No, I was at Riverside. And to tell you the truth, I don't think anyone realized the extent off her beliefs until she was in the program. I think people just assumed that since she graduated from a major university and had good recommendations from the faculty there, that she accepted twentieth century science.

Female Genital Mutilation = worst Christmas present ever.

Male circumcision is not comparable to female genital mutilation. First male circumcisions done when the child is a new born, female genital mutilation is done when they are older and can remember. Also the parts still work after male circumcision, but in a lot of cases female genital mutilation removes all sexual pleasure.

What a loaf of horse crap. People outside of a society have every right to criticize another culture, for what they perceive as inadequacies in that culture. I hate to resurrect zombie Hilter, according to your logic, since I was not a German citizen in the 1940's, I can not objective criticize Nazi Germany for killing Jews. After all rules are rules, and at that time and place it was illegal to be a Jew.

Personally, I do not live in a culture or society that legally executes homosexuals, kills rape victims or imprisons women for have a suntan. And I will say that any society that does, is morally backwards and ought to change. And I would put every pressure that I personal can to change that other culture.

Culture are heavily influenced by surrounding cultures. No one place lives in a bubble. If Iran truely lived in a bubble, it wouldn't have computers or penicillin, or for that matter be Islamic. After all, Islam did not originate in Iran.

Nor is any one culture monolithic in nature. And as Iran does influence America and the world as a whole, it makes sense that we as people on the outside of that society would support the portion of that society that we believe would help make it a better neighbor.

Also assimilation is not the same as influencing. If it's ok to spread Big Macs and penicillin around the world, then it's ok to spread the idea that maybe you shouldn't kill women for adultery is fair game too.

Last but most importantly, screw culture and society. If I perceive that individuals are being harmed by a cultural practice, then screw that practice. It is my obligation as a human being to speak out against it.

Let's reverse the situation. Let's say, that in Western countries they decide that being Iranian or Muslim, instead of being homosexual, was worthy of capital punishment. Since Iranians and/or Muslims are a relatively small portion of the population as a whole and any attempt to chance the society runs the risk, no matter how small, of starting a civil war, killing millions, would you as an outsider speak up again this?

The two stories of reproduction that always made everyone cringe in the classes I've had or have taught are the Cimicidae and Enicocephalidae.

In Cimicidae, there is a traumatic insemination. The male's genitalia acts sort of like a knife, and the female is inseminated by piercing the abdominal wall.

In Enicocephalidae, the male genitalia have no openings. In order to inseminate the female the male has to put it in and literally break it off. Needless to say, males only mate once.
