This particular brand of 'Conservative' Christianty, the 'Religious Right', etc, is not christian per se, but has tied their bizarre, conflicted right-wing 'moralist' ideals to the Christian religion and made a culture out of it. I don't think Christ would approve very much of their words and actions.</p><p>You're right when you say Love thy Neighbor as thyself is the most important part of Christianity.
