I was taking ITS in a very new direction when you showed up and the site has grown tons through your loyalty to the team and commitment to this site. That you managed to keep up with everything here while going to school full-time and doing other things like play-by-play at local sporting events was fun to watch, if I'm being honest, and definitely appreciated. As you said, it's come up before and was just never the right time, but it is now. I sincerely wish you the best of luck in beginning your adult life, and I thank you for all that you've done here.

Re: Next Day Rant: Dak Prescott Shows Big Flaws in Big Win

Keep the racist shit out of my Cowboys. I don't care if you're black, you don't get a pass here. Shame on you, and tbh fuck you. We're still "riding" Garrett and Linehan too, but I don't see anyone crying racism over that. Go away, come back when you're ready to get real.

Re: BCM MCMR M-LOK Rail Panel Covers | Product Review

Good to know where I can get these for a good price. I'd like to see this same list done for mobile, and even one for both mobile and desktop.

Sidebars are annoying, I'll admit, but they're often helpful. 90% of sites I visit (probably way, way more) have ads, and sidebars are good spots for ads beside the content and within view that don't break the flow of the content. No sidebars = all in-content ads. Even if only a few, that's distracting. What are your thoughts on that, Lauren?

Re: How not to design a blog

I second that. You make good points, Google reflects both the majority of national media views in results as well as prioritizing matches with past searches from the same device.

But I'd counter that the media doesn't represent Americans, else Trump wouldn't have won. If Americans were as Liberal as Google's results tend to suggest, then Clinton would've won even with a bad overall campaign. And it wouldn't have been close.

I'm conservative, and exercise critical thinking often, especially where politics, society, and news in general are concerned. I know how to use Google (even built a few small search engines for fun), so I know how to get past the slanted results fairly quick. Still, knowing how, especially with a clear right lean to my search history and website visits, doesn't mean I'm not having to get past it all more than I reasonably should.

Also, popularity of the sites in results don't necessarily equal higher rankings anymore. Instead, fewer visitors could stay on the site longer - even by leaving it open while away from the device and returning to continue browsing - and achieve higher rank.

Besides, YouTube (under full control of Google) was recently outed via outright confession for skewing its search results toward the left in all areas. Doubt that division was an entirely rogue agent for the corporation.

So, yes, there should be some critical results on the first page. It's about count, but about presence. It's better whether there are 9 for and 1 against, or 9 against and 1 for, than 10 for or against. Even searches on "murder" tend to show more parity than the "Paris Accord" search.

Sorry for the long rant. Good comments, sir.

Re: Counterpoint: Why Cowboys Will Dump Dez Bryant

I only call it a drop if it hit the palms of his hands. Too much "just happens" otherwise. But my point was that if he's in the middle a lot, he's involved more but has what seems like a lot of key drops, and if he's outside more, he's not as involved in the game, but doesn't have the key drops. And by key, I just mean on plays for first down and a TD. Just speculation from memory though. It's frustrating.

Re: Counterpoint: Why Cowboys Will Dump Dez Bryant

I spent the first half of 2017 bitching that Dez wasn't given more routes across the middle. He's a tough, physical receiver, and not a burner, so that should be his sweet spot. Well, they finally started giving middle routes, and Dez became a drop machine (including several tipped INTs). So idk.

Re: Believe it or not, Ryan Switzer did Something no one else Could in 2017

And that's purely recalling from memory.

Re: Believe it or not, Ryan Switzer did Something no one else Could in 2017

Meh. Depends on the number of returns, which this stat doesn't make use of. Seems like Switz was averaging over 10 yards on each return for most of the season, which would put him at 3-4 returns per game. One of those is opening kickoff. Not horrible, at least. I see your point, though, just don't see the numbers to say which way it goes. Thanks for reading (as always, Travis).

Re: Should the Web Have a Universal Design System?

A universal design system for the web may have some benefits, but it kills the spirit of design. The open nature of the internet you refer to is one its best features. UX design is already doing what can be done to curb upsetting varieties in experience with consistent navigation guidelines and such.

Can you really imagine EVERY site on the web built with Bootstrap? Not only would the web lose meaning, it would also be boring af.

Also, it's unjust to compare the web to iOS and Android for the simple fact that users have a choice between the two (and others tbh). If the web had one universal design system, that's it. There is no variance, expression, or competition. There's also no need for this website or designers.

Designers don't just follow guidelines, they create and inspire. The only inspiring system is the first of its kind, and a universal one, by definition, prohibits a second.

I guess I see your point, but I think you're losing sight of the forest for the trees. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Re: 5 Biggest Concerns for Cowboys Heading Into the Off-Season

I've been saying for weeks now that Dan bailey might be in trouble. I keep going back to Nick Folk. He was a very good kicker when he started his career in Dallas, not Bailey, but still good. Then he suffered a lower body injury and his accuracy was never the same. We eventually released him and signed Bailey, while Nick bounced around a few other teams. He still hasn't fully regained his accuracy, though he has gotten better.

Now, Bailey is saying the same thing. He says he hasn't been able to find his groove since the injury. I pray he can find it again this offseason, because that would be a terrible way to end his tenure.

Re: Alert: WR Cole Beasley Out Versus Eagles

I never saw a credible source confirm that rumor, just a lot of people wanting it to happen, for some reason.

Look, people are tripping right now. They were tripping before the trade deadline too. Yes, Beasley has been off this year, but so have Terrence Williams, Dez Bryant, and Jason Witten. Think Williams is still without a single touchdown this year, meaning his last TD was thrown by Romo S2016:W17.

Been a rough year for Dak Prescott. He's done well at times, but had an out-of-sync o-line through the first month of the season, and then Tyron Smith's injury against ATL and repeatedly since, then Ezekiel Elliott's suspension. Add to that Scott Linehan getting super pass happy. Dak had a rough season. The receivers all suffered from that.

I'm certain Beasley stays. I was poking fun a bit at the Switzer fans in the article because I don't see it. Same size, sure, but Beasley has a way about him that Switzer just doesn't. Glad we'll see more of Switzer tomorrow though, I can get a better look at him as a WR on an NFL field, hopefully. But I suspect Beasley is the only Beasley we've got.

What we need is a burner. Like John Ross fast, only healthier. Thanks for reading.

Re: Does Orlando Scandrick’s Placement on IR End His Cowboys Career?

Personally, I'm fine with that. Saw BB mentioning earlier in the year that that it's "unlikely" the Cowboys pay him what's owed for 2018, either a cut or paycut coming, and I'd say "unlikely" is understating it. He's as good now at tipping the ball up for INTs as he was 2 years ago at catching the ball. Pathetic decline and way too early. #SaltyAF

Re: Ezekiel Elliott’s Return To Cowboys Mired In Misplaced Controversy

Doocy is a blowhard. I watched him growing up (33 now) and liked him better than Hanson at least, but then I met him. Arrogant and self-righteous. Funny how he and other local media are calling Zeke arrogant after that interview. So short their memories are, just a few months after blasting Zeke for being such a total "team distraction", they're out here blasting him for not being a distraction. Also didn't imply connection beyond location. Lot of kids will look it up with just a small teaser like that, learning there was football in Dallas before the Cowboys and the NFL. But the point is for them to look it up themselves. Too many young fans don't even know the name Murchison.

But since you mention it, the Kansas City Chiefs began in August 1959, the Dallas Cowboys began January 1960, though the Cowboys would have come a few years sooner if not for some difficulty with Washington on the league vote.
