I've always been a big fan of Barry Church. He's not Ed Reed, but he's solid. Given the others missing from this defense, I'll feel much better having him back there with Byron Jones than JJ Wilcox. Small improvement, but a significant one.

I agree with Irvin; winning week after week is great but the mind starts playing tricks on you the more something doesn't change. You get comfortable, complacent even, and you start to feel like it's automatic. Right now, the Cowboys can lose a game and the worst they'll face is outside perceptions based mostly on what past teams did and did not do. Now is a good time to lose because it doesn't cost anything but a digit in the win/loss columns. If they lose in a month, they go home. No chance to let that loss educate the young players, no cause for the veterans to engage the rookies and be the leader we all believe most of them are.

It's a weird thing to say, I know, but I want this team to lose before the playoffs, and I want them to lose a game like this. The Steelers got close, but we still scored easily enough. The Redskins gave us some trouble, and the Vikings should have owned us. The sloppy play last night could easily suggest the team is already feeling the comfort of an 10-win streak, and 11 isn't going to be much better, not if they don't focus on the mistakes.

Dak was a little rough in week 1, but Zeke was really rough. He was rushing every play, not being patient and allowing blocks to be made before he got there. I'm a firm believer that the success of the run game creates success through the air, and that week was a bad week for both.

Looking forward to the rematch. I don't expect a huge improvement, but definitely enough to cover the 1 point the Cowboys lost by in week one.

I tend to think Jason Witten isn't going to do better this week than he has in recent weeks. He's a solid veteran and usually comes through against the Giants, hate to see that streak end too.

I'd be just fine with that. I'm not a fan of Dunbar. It's not about just about him, but how this team seems hellbent on using him. One dimensional players, or players that make an aspect of the team one dimensional, are a gift to defenses. McFadden can at least run the ball, which may be more than we can say about Alfred Morris; that guy is just struggling this year.

I like David Irving a lot, I just wish he was more consistent. He's not always the guy we saw against Green Bay and Tampa Bay (coincidence that he blew up against the Bay teams?).

Carr is still Carr, but Marinelli is finally putting him in coverage he likes. It's made a huge difference and given Carr a chance to do good things in Dallas. Hopefully others can let go of the past, because I have and I was very much against Carr staying the last two years.

Yeah but it's still north of $10 mil this year. Last year's performance (Carr only) wasn't worth that much. So maybe a little of both. He also hasn't committed as many penalties this year. Before, he'd get beat or caught out of position and foul to try to recover.

Lot of people wanted the Giants to win this, and I guess I get that, but I've wanted the Packers to win all along. I just don't have the confidence in Scott Linehan's ability to properly gameplan for the Giants after the two losses this year. On the other hand, the Packers are tougher, but they couldn't account for Zeke or David Irving in week 6, so that's the run game and pass rush. I like our chances better if we can reproduce those areas of the game.

I completely agree with everything you said. I've never been a big Linehan fan. Here lately it seems as if he's kind of abandoned what was working for them earlier in the season and trying to go to a more down the field passing team. Hopefully he can get back to the drawing board this weekend figure out what works.

Randy, everything you said is true and would definitely have to be taken into consideration. If his knee is healthy he would be a tremendous asset. The Cowboys really miss Geoff Swaim's blocking ability in the running game. Escobar is willing enough, but that's just not one of his strong suits.

Emilio, the health of his knee is the only reason why he might still be a free agent. Pettigrew can still help a team this season and I hope that team is the Cowboys.

Travis, you're completely right. I think he is the most complete back outside of Zeke. That's why it was so surprising that he was the one released. I'm still holding out hope that he can be added to the practice squad, but I think that is highly unlikely.

Thanks for commenting Jeff. I'm glad I wasn't the only one surprised by Jackson's release. I'm really hoping he can clear waivers and come back to the Cowboys.

Skidmark, unfortunately I don't see them doing that since they kept Dunbar over Jackson in the first place. Fortunately though, the Cowboys can add Jackson to the practice squad and still keep Dunbar. He just has to clear waivers first.

Yeah, Cleveland claimed him. I doubt that he will be team less again this off-season. This move was probably made for future purposes. That's true running backs can be found later in the draft, that's for the Cowboys found Jackson in the first place. Christine Michael was a second round pick however.

The RB position takes less time for rookies to contribute in the NFL. It is still disappointing that the Cowboys had a promising first-year player in Jackson. It seems like a wasted pick that might have to be addressed again in the upcoming draft.

Assassin, I saw that also. I would've hated seeing Darius Jackson find success with the Eagles or Giants. At least with the Browns I can root for him.
