Why stop at animals? Because science shows that many animals are sentient while rocks and plants are not.

Event at a gut level, most people would feel bad for running over an innocent animal than running over some sunflowers.

You can stop consuming meat as well. This solves the problem of supporting institutions that you don't completely trust, gives them less money to put into antibiotics and, in the end, tells them they need to start taking things like this more seriously. It's a tough option for most to make, but it is one of many things that humans can choose to do that other animals cannot.

Philanthropy is not done only by those who have the means, it is done by anyone who feel the world is better off by giving.

All of us in Philanthro are volunteers and despite our own struggles, spend the time to help our community and others in need. I don't believe artists or any struggling communities are any different. We've had a positive response from many artists and participation is voluntary :)

I'm part of a small start-up that gets a lot of traffic. We're nimble on the IT side, so if we signed up for the smaller plans, we would just have to make sure not to go over the limits of the small plan right?

I'm starting up user product development and an immediate $1k setup fee is pretty intimidating, although the monthly fee is fair.

It depends. Much like how some girls think being one of the guys or liking sports is attractive to men, it's not a hard rule.

For me, it's more about a girl having a real interest that's outside of celebrities and clothes. If you know some esoteric shit about video games because you're passionate about it, that's sexy. At the same time though, if a girl plays it up too much, it ends up coming off as them trying too hard to impress nerds and at that point they're more pathetic than I am... :P
