Its not about modifying their phones, agreed many won't - but Its entirely a proof of concept. Apple could tomorrow switch to USB-C.

The only reason they haven't on iPhone is because their Lightning licensing on accessories is too lucrative.

No, I know multiple people with varying devices - the COVID Alert app itself isn't causing any significant difference in battery drain, fact it doesn't even register.

Its often another service like FB or Instagram that has autoplay video enabled.

It's an interesting product offering, and believe that many will jump onboard. As it it being cheaper, despite Shaw services being expensive, if you just need the $0, it should balance out.

I though would expect Shaw to carry over their practice of at least yearly price increases.

As for me, I have no needs to upgrade to their fibre connection at this time, so I'll be sticking with my grandfathered Rogers plan

This is why I like the Lenovo implementation on their Thinkpads. The ThinkShutter is a "simple" physical cover built in.
I'll never trust a software switch/cover - if I don't have my ThinkShutter, its getting gaffers tape. Pain and simple.

Google spam filters are way too sensitive -- my personal domain with real legit messages had been flagged for 3 months. Worst of all there is absolutely no support for users when they finally figure out whats going on. While my domain seems now be back on the global whitelist, Google needs to improve their help channels.

That's not even remotely true @Clarkette, the Federal Liberals are a centre/centre-right party plain and simple. The Federal Conservatives are very right and getting more right everyday it seems. As for the Federal NDP they're left-centre. But of course you cannot forget the Federal Greens, which are somewhere between the Federal NDP at left-centre to centre.

Forget about 2-week spring break, if you want to make a difference in learning, and family enjoyment time this district needs to move to a balanced school calendar.

By doing so it gets rid of the summer void which leads to much backtracking in September and gives families much need flexibility for "activities"

Instead of 2 week spring break, we need to solve the "summer void." the only way that's going to be solved is by moving to a balanced school year calendar. Breaking up the 2 months in the summer across the year is a win win for everyone!

@Gadfly, the pipeline does ship out valuable jobs - its shipping a raw resource out of country were it should be shipped as a value-added product. It's those value-added industries where we're losing out on the long-term family supporting careers.

All you have to do is look at the existing pipeline. We use to have a refinery in Kamloops - Vancouver had multiple - now in all of BC we only have two (2). The jobs that come from a refinery are of much better quality then those that come with pipelines/tank farms. Bitumen in and of itself is an extremely low grade of oil, it makes no sense to ship it as-is. So let's refine the crap into an upgraded product and let our economy benefit from added jobs.
The very same is happening to our forestry sector with the increase in raw logs exports - mills are closing down, communities are folding. We want rural BC to thrive and survive, we need to bring back the value-added industries. The pipeline will not bring prosperity to rural BC.

As an added bonus, the refined product, it also poises less environmental damage in the event of a spill.

Technically it's not a $300 lunch, it's a political fundraiser and it's not something that is exclusive to the Federal Liberals. ALL parties have fundraising events and they ALL cost roughly the same.

As to Mr. Giesbrecht's comment about the pipeline having all aspects checked and ready to go, that's not even remotely true. The supreme Court of Canada sent back to the NEB to properly consult with indigenous groups.

I too am a working in the resource industry and am also upset with the pipeline purchase, but I'm also upset with the process of the pipeline. The pipeline is shipping valuable jobs out of Canada. The very jobs that are good paying with benefits and job security.

I'd love Google to stop gMail from flagging my Office365 domain as Spam, each and every time - domain is properly signed and all emails are high-quality. Makes job applications incredible difficult when you're unsure if the recipient even got your application.

As a mid-millennial I strongly disagree - Libraries now are more important then ever before, but they have changed!

For me, I find it harder to read on a screen, tablets are unusable, and ebooks (eink) readers are better, but still not great. IMHO nothing beats paper!

So yes I do still goto the library to grab books, plus its a great resource to help curb consumerism! Most books are read once then sit on a shelf - borrowing from a library just makes since!

I recently just checked out a book that wasn't available in the local TNRD system, but the library used the inter-regional system to get me a copy from another region, it was awesome. So yes they cut down inventory, but there are other library that will have a copy to which they can get brought in.

In addition, libraries are great community spaces! Kamloops has a real lack of community meeting rooms/spaces, both libraries have such and they're great to use, so yes, I am looking forward to their planning of a new branch in Sahalli/Aberdeen.
