i will grant you all of that! i'm not super familiar with the author,
either, so maybe she crazy. but i do think there's a (tenuous, as you
mention) link between the fact-checking of yore (quietly happened behind the
scenes before a piece was printed) and the more public "fact-checking" (a
problematic term here, agreed) that happens on blogs. (though i'm sure those
types of rebuttals have been around for forever, just maybe not as deeply
ingrained within the public sphere? maybe?)

upon further reflection, this is a piece that's less about the mechanics of
a newsroom and more about the shifting perception of what fact-checking
really is. and maybe the author is the one who's really confused and
incorrect. but maybe i just havent thought about it deeply, and i shouldnt
post things from the nyt when i read them stoned!

for me the most interesting point this piece made was that in the past,
fact-checking was something that happened quietly before a piece was
printed, and now it can be a more public, transparent process often
undertaken in an attempt to bring down a piece. though.

i figured there was a legitimate reason for including this information in
the story, but the language was hilariously vague. and to be fair, i was
being bitchy after a long day, which sometimes happens after long weeks.

ugh, this sounds terrible. i went on a weekend vacation about a month ago and left my meds at home, and it was one of the worst weekends of my life even though i was at the beach with some of my best friends. can you just take a tylenol pm and sleep through the worst of it?

i used to work at this doctor's office, and one day i was filing medical records like a devastatingly attractive robot when i smelled b.o. i turned around, and realized that my office mate was eating krystal. they smell like b.o. and i STILL love them. did white castle have any version of the chili cheese pup?
