It can definitely happen if he had a `node_modules` anywhere in the parent directories leading up to the path he was working in! npm will keep looking up until it finds one and stuff packages there if it does.

A) greatest blog ever.

B) none of those days work for me :( I'm playing a show the 15th, then I'm gone from the 16th – 28th (Portland for RealtimeConf then London for MozFest). Don't hold up this awesome train for me, though. After the 28th I shouldn't have to travel again the rest of the year! So I'll make it to the next one for sure.

If you need to store more, use IndexedDB. https://github.com/jensarps... is a good wrapper if you want a more reasonable API.

That jsperf you linked to doesn't seem to be proving your point. Both running the test about a dozen times and looking at the graphs that are already there, the difference between multiple `var`s and commas is negligible (and for V8, it looks like multiple vars is edging out commas).

I had to make a pasta bridge for physics, too. Mine was second place, the kid who got first finished his in like five minutes, and it looked so simple but was nigh unbreakable. He went on to major in quantum mechanics.
