OMG I covet that necklace SO bad.
My favorite time I reclaimed the word fat is when I decided to wear my Fat! So? shirt to the gym (this was prior to owning my Definatalie Fat shirt). I got so many looks from people trying to see what my shirt said and when they realised they would sort of do a double take and then either start talking really fast about something like the weather or they would get that deer in headlights look and scurry away. I love it. I love challenging people like that!

Oh I love those floral headpiece shots, they are gorgeous and your hair is amazing. Is that your real hair? I desperately want hair that color but seeing as my hair is very dark I can't see it working on me. As a photographer how much would I love to take some pics of you as you are very photogenic! Thanks for sharing! (By the way, would you like to be added to the Notes from the Fatosphere feed?)

THANKYOU!!!! I hate the policing of fashion. Why can't tights be worn as pants? Or as arm warmers or even as a hat if that is how someone wants to wear them?

I think we all have these moments, even the most hardy fat activists have moments of self doubt. I know I do. I weigh about the same as you (or I did the last time I was weighed at the doctor's). There is so much negativity in our world about fat that it is extremely difficult to maintain our 'fat ass bubble' (as the Zaftig chick put it). Hang in there honey, if it is any consolation, you aren't alone in this.

I am curious about people's opinions of those who do not, will not and even refuse to subscribe to healthiness being the goal. If someone is not interested in maintaining or achieving 'health' (whatever that actually means) should they be judged? Should they be ostracised? Or is it their personal choice? What do you think?

The whole size thing addles my brain. I wear the same size in Australian sizing as I do in US sizing. Actually, I can wear a size 20 Australian top but have to have a 22 US top. And I can wear an Aussie 22 bottom and sometimes need a US 24 bottom. So I don't think the translation between sizing from country to country can be relied on. I just wish they would do women's clothes in inches/centimetres. It would save a lot of trouble.

Anyway, I think plus size would be from 20 up but then again, why do we need an arbitrary designation of what is plus size? Plus what? Plus insinuates there is a 'standard', 'normal' or 'desirable' size and we fatties are over that. Well that is all totally subjective and the notion of 'plus size' does nothing to normalise being fat.

Great to hear from another Aussie! I think your look rocks I dabble in goth and 50s retro/rockabilly myself and I stand out like a sore thumb in the rural area I hail from! Nice to hear from someone else into all the alternative stuff, you wouldnt happen to be a pagan too would you?

Health is such a loaded term and because of that, it is actually a fairly unhelpful term. There no person in this world who could be healthy in every possible way. Everyone has something. And if not right at this moment, then they will at some time in their life be considered 'unhealthy'. Add to that, that health (whatever the hell health is) is not a moral imperative and I have decided that 'health' is highly over rated and that we do what we do to get by.

I love your hair in the jazz dancing pic, your retro style in the first one and those magenta tights rock!

It shits me no end that Big City Chic dropped the Big. I mean come on people, who are we trying to kid by dropping the Big? Everyone knows it is a fat girls shop so why bother? *sigh*

My style of choice varies between retro and goth. Sometimes together and sometimes separately. That is of course when I am not just throwing on jeans and a long sleeve tshirt (in winter anyway) to bum around the house in. Until I joined Fatshionista, I wore A LOT of black. Mainly black. Which of course worked well with the Goth thing but still... now I have quite a lot of color in my wardrobe (for me anyway) and a lot of skirts and dresses. And it is good!

Awesome to hear a male voice! My husband is a tall, broad, fat man and I think he is a hunk of spunk. He is pretty confident but he still refuses to believe that women (and men for that matter) find him attractive. I know they do because they tell me all the time! lol. He loves to wear clothes in styles that arent readily available to big men (particularly in Australia). He likes bowling shirts, zoot suits, bright colored business shirts etc. And he carries them off with style. Even I, as a fat woman, seem to have more clothing choices than he does and that is a sad thing to realise when you think about the lack of fat women's clothing choices! Anyway, hope to hear more from you in the future!
