like this, but probably the BBC is committed to RealPlayer on massively
complex levels.

The one we have oop north here has a lassie hugging one on the massive cast iron legs of Saltburn Pier. And of course some concrete ball hugging too. Beautiful.

Firefox is telling me I don't have the plugins to see 3 items in this blog post, and can't find suitable ones. Never seen that before. What are they, slide shows or something?

We have no reason to think the latest version is more secure, only that WP has fixed the vulnerability that caused this latest round of hackings. What is worrying is that WP itself and it's commentators and fanboys are saying 'old versions' are prone, when actually they are talking about very recent and not old versions. The version I was using was 2.8, and I'm neither lazy or unaware, but it's not an old version.

Any new blog has been and will in future be made on WP.com, where fixes will be made centrally, but I agree with you that another system would help prevent the creeping sameyness we're seeing all over the blogosphere.

B'ham Women's Aid and friends squatted the massive Victorian pile that was pulled down by the Priory Hosp developers. More than a year, iirc. So, yes there were riots. ;)

There's the silhouette of a greyhound, life sized, painted on a posh brick garden wall in School Rd Moseley. Beutiful ghost-dog, really comes alive after dark, in the lamplight.

Yeah, just get on and do it. Applying for funding is just one hurdle. If you get it there will be strings, including forced timescales, ongoing monitoring and evluation criteria, and boring form filling. All that can be enough to make the funding cost more in time than you get in money.

Plus often, it becomes their project, not yours, logo-laden and corporate looking. Arts Lottery used to be mildly better at that than Arts Council.
