Why has Obama let down our guard?

Does he see a diminished threat?

Is his legal approach superior to the Bush Administration's military approach?

Is he naive and stupid?

Or is he aware what his change in approach will yield? Why would he do this? Might a horrific terrorist attack serve as a pretext for extreme measures? What might those extreme measures be?

Did the Germans ever restore the Reichstag after that fire?

I quit watching Dick Wolf's slanted stuff some time ago. That's said, O'Reilly is always most outraged when his name is mentioned. He's quite the "statesman" when others are smeared.

I find his current "tour" with Glenn Beck amusing. I think he perceives his moment to be passing, and he's trying to hitch himself the next shooting star.

Kinda interesting how Obama repays political debts. A high publicity trial for NYC that's sure to create lots of jobs. I wonder if Obama's investor friends have purchased options on the real estate near the courthouse, should "urban renewal" opportunities present themselves?

Illinois folks have great opportunities coming their way as well as Obama prepares to create Little Gitmo on the Prairie. One wonders if al Qaeda will provide a Beslan re-run for the prison guard's children?

Can't wait for the transformation to come....

I wonder if anyone has realized that the al Qaeda model--individuals acting independently and violently against forces that they perceive to be a threat--can be employed by non-Muslims? Are there any examples?

When Muslims follow this path, it sure complicates interdiction by our intelligence, military, and law enforcement assets....

In case of a "dirty" bomb, get your ass to a GNC (or similar place) and buy potassium, iodine, and calcium pills to protect yourself from the primary radioactive isotopes. If you're exposed, take a shower and discard your clothes. Keep your windows closed and stay inside for a while.

Given the choice between a real nuke and a dirty bomb, I'll take a dirty bomb hands down.

Your are sharp as a tack, Mr. Nom de Plume! Not only did 9/11 occur on his watch, but it followed his daddy's Presidency. During the intervening eight years, al Qaeda took a vacation, only to reconstitute themselves on 21 January 2001. Few have intellects so sublime, as to perceive the sequence of these events.

Your intellect (and quite possibly, your moral courage) is matched by that of our current President, who--after declaring success in the war in Afghanistan to be in our nation's vital interest, has yet to act on his hand-picked general's request for more troops.

I have a long way to go before I can match your appreciation of the intricacies of defense and foreign policy. These blogs are so instructive. I'm glad you can tear yourself away from Warcraft and Halo in order to share your insights with right-wing neanderthals like me.

There are things I like about Dubya and things I don't.

I like that he kept us safe, I like that he pushed for the surge in Iraq, I like that he deposed Saddam Hussein, and I especially like that he wasn't Al Gore or John Kerry. Run the 2000 and 2004 elections over and I'll still vote for Bush, despite his failings (see below).

What I don't like about Bush: He was about as articulate as Sean Penn speaking without a script, he never fought the Democrats over Social Security reform, in fact he never fought over anything. He pretty much quit trying--much like his father did after Desert Storm. His lack of trying and unwillingness or inability to articulate a vision different from Pelosi and Reid set the stage for the Republican defeats in 2006 and 2008. AND, he said Islam is a religion of peace. Watta crock! I saw bunches of Muslims at the Denver Airport today--one of them pushing a rifle case(?) on a baggage cart. I'm so proud of our society's tolerance....

I have more questions. What does Ft. Hood's location in Texas--where Bush claims to be from--have to do with the Major's jihad? What is hard to understand about what happened at Ft. Hood? Are you serious--was the Major really that aggressive?
