Okay, why does every movie star or athlete's child want to go into fashion, film or music? Because it's easy for them! It's the popular thing to do! Why, with all the resources afforded these children, do their parents not chose better careers to guide them towards? Not so much better from the standpoint of income, but more meaningful in every other possible way. Maybe it would stimulate other children whose parents aren't Will and Jada to be more than a ball player/rapper/singer/actor/fashionista. Maybe these famous kids could be famous for their inventions or their ground-breaking research and not their hot single on the billboard charts or their ode to Kanye.

I hear you Bro, but those two examples you gave are so much more meaningful. Not that being an entertainer isn't meaningful but if you are going to be an artist at least be something new and fresh. It's as if she was a Rhianna's parasitic twin that budded off and along the way took some some lyrics and beats for herself. Even her hairdo is a clone.

You're absolutely right AB. Can you imagine being a suburban mother, sitting in your lovely well-groomed home all day and everything is right in the world? They need to have something to do (and if you don't have a pool, screwing the pool boy isn't an option). It gives their boring, monotonous, day-to-day life meaning and validation. It would be too easy to jump on the band wagon and condemn Lindsey Lohan, Lady Gaga, or Eddie Long. So, what do we do? We create something from nothing. It's a sure fire way to get us noticed.

Thanks for that comment AB. a lot of people do not get the issue of disability and accommodation unless they become disabled. then, its a whole different story. I'm an assistive technology specialist for a community college in VA and we spend tons of money each semester on interpreters for the deaf as well as other expenses. My interpreters make about $50/hr and if a student is in a class for more than two hours, we have to pay for two interpreters for that class. Not to mention that I have to pay for the brailing of textbooks. A regular text can run about $3-4 per Braille page. Now consider that one regular print page is about 3-4 Braille pages. So a nice biology book of 900 pages can run you anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000. No imagine having to do that for several blind students. I currently have about 8 deaf students all taking over 12 credit hours and most taking labs, which are 3 hours plus, which means two interpreters for each person for each lab. My interpreters make more than I make in a year working part-time! But with all that being said, we cannot just take that all away because it's too expensive. The students have the right to have equal access to all the courses that are afforded a non-disabled person.

Now, I'm not if anyone else noticed but from 2:43 to 3:03 there is a woman in the bottom right corner wearing black who claps off beat from everyone else. Just my astute observation of this thing.

Note* - I'm still at work although the campus was closed do to inclement weather. So, the students can't fare in this weather but I should be able to? Is that what the administration is telling me?

You know AB...I'm not mad at this kid. He's got a personality that I can get with. Plus, his manners are on point. The whole "yes mam" thing got me. Most kids who have that fame factor have this arrogance and bumptiousness to them . He didn't portray that. He was genuinely having fun. And anyone who wants to be a scientist in these days, I have to big-it-up for them. Being an inventor and self-professed nerd myself, I hope to hear this kid milks this fame thing and use it as a launching pad to end up at an Ivy League school doing something great.

I too, think this seems just a tad bit all too convenient. I mean, really? If i were in such a bad place in my life where I wanted to kill myself, would I stop because a rapper decides to swing past and impart upon me some of his grand wisdom? Doubtful! Especially, if that rapper is someone who can't seem to keep themselves out of trouble but manages to get off because of his fame and wealth and continues his buffoonery daily. That would drive me to take him out with me! I'm just saying!

It's a sad commentary of the way things used to be on the plantations. My great, great grandmother was a slave and she was very dark and her idea of a good child was someone who is light-skinned. She passed that mentality down to my grandmother who always commented about my niece being so pretty and light-skinned and how well she'll do because of it. It's something we, as a people, have to realize doesnt matter to other races. To them we're all just black.
