ugh, i wrote a reply via the tumblr dashboard that used up all the characters, and then thought i could add a second one because i hadnt finished. but it overwrote the first and now there is no context to the comment 'and it is actually pretty funny'. anyway, what tried to write the first time was that when my friend linked me to this article earlier today, at first glance i just assumed it was CH article i'd already read that some other website had stolen and reposted, but then when i actually read it, while very similar to some CH articles of that nature, it doesn't actually seem to be directly ripping any of them off. You're right that the joke's already been made, but despite that, this one is still pretty funny.

Your comment about TMV and Sparta is so true. One of my biggest regrets in life is when i missed out on seeing them at the big day out in 2001 (its an australian music festival) they were playing on one of the smaller stages right at the end of the night and i was exhausted and didnt know them that well so i just stayed where i was and watched ramstein instead. cut to 6 months later and i had fallen in love with them, bought all their albums... and then found out they broke up. Since then i've seen The Mars Volta twice and Sparta once and while both bands were great live i would give anything to be able to go back and see At The Drive In when they were at their best.

no offense but that is a terrible prediction. it's not that he's that bad but that guy is never going to have mainstream appeal unless he changes his sound completely or sells out somehow, kol have gotten massive. maybe if you aimed a bit lower... this years fleet foxes?

well spotted, i forgot to spell check, there were actually multiple typos which are now fixed and after re-reading there is some pretty terrible grammar as well. but they don't have a check for that so i re-wrote a few bits to make it slightly less bad.

Hi Streeter,

I'm an Australian I've been following your blog ever since you started it (before it was a Tumblr, I'm a big CH fan from way back)

Summer Heights High was by far the best Australian comedy in years, a close second is probably Chris Lilleys previous series We Can Be Heroes. It followed 5 different Australians who had been nominated for the Australian of the year award, all 5 main characters were again played by Lilley and one of them was Jam'ie whos character he then brought across into the Summer Heights High. Its not as well done as Summer H H but if you enjoyed that you would probably like We Can Be Heroes.

I completely agree with you about Jonah's scene being similar to David Brent being made redundant. In both cases you had gotten to know the characters so well that you could really feel the pain and emotion and its a huge credit to both actors. Also, in case you were wondering, the portrayal of an Australian high school and the speech and types of cliques you would find is EXTREMELY accurate.

It's really cool to know that people like yourself are getting exposed to Australian content like Summer Heights High.
