Close enough to the city to take a long weekend, but far enough away that it feels like a break. Bonus points for the ferry ride :)

Re: http://pantspocket.tumblr.com/post/390063820

Lacey!

I think this crossing sign is in the general area of where I work and always makes me smile.

Unrelated: I hope that when you and KV move to Billyburg that we can get together. There are some people (namely John, the beau and Turbo) who believe he is real. :)

Re: http://fullcredit.tumblr.com/post/356527759

I have a wedding that you might appreciate...I'd reblog your post and add my input but the bride still follows my blog.

I was the maid of honor.

They lived together for 7 years and had full time jobs and college educations but she had three bridal showers so she could "upgrade her kitchen." (direct quote)

She asked me to hand-calligraphy her 200+ invitations because I had "amazing handwriting." (I declined)

She asked me to find her musicians because I'm "great at recruitment." (I declined)

The wedding was on a holiday weekend in the middle of nowhere.

The rehearsal dinner was dry. Warm soda or cold water were our beverage options.

After the meal, I was asked to stay and ice 300 cupcakes because she didn't want to spend money on having them professionally done since we could "do it ourselves!!!" (I couldn't decline - I was a captive audience)

When we showed up to the location the day-of, nothing was set up. The wedding party had to set up nearly 200 place settings. Napkins, table assignments, plates, glassware, etc.

The bridal party cleared the tables. (This was when I decided she could suck it and I started drinking $4 bottles of champagne.)

They had two receptions. The wedding party was cut off from the good beer/wine/champagne and instructed to drink from a keg when the second reception began (which was of the potluck variety). The bride and groom confiscated all unopened champagne and wine and locked up the good beer.

I never received a thank you note but rather a nasty email, asking why I'd been avoiding her...I let her know what I thought of her wedding and lack of gratitude. She responded with claims that I ruined her wedding (?!) and that I was a horrible, selfish person that she should have never chosen as a Maid of Honor who she "expected to wait on [her] every need all day." Needless to say, I tore into her and that was the end of the friendship.

BUSSING TABLES IN 3 INCH HEELS AND SATIN GOWNS.

FTW, nearly 5 months later, she's still posting about her fabulous wedding day and how perfect it was*.

*It wasn't.

Re: Geico - take your lame British gecko and shove it.

Train Friend #1:

Last we spoke, your car was still registered in Western PA. I hate admitting that but they're very responsive with the beau is with me.

As per the M3 - it was his third BMW - he owned only BMWs in his life and was meticulous with the car (I recall a mild scolding for getting cigarette ash (back in college when I smoked) on the exterior of the car once. THE EXTERIOR). When I commented on the slow pick up/delay there was some button that needed to be pushed.

I don't recall what the button was for because I was too distracted at the fact that a "let me go fast" button existed (and the fact that he actually let me drive it - I believe I was the only person other than his parents who had driven it). If he still reads this blog, I'm sure he'll chime in to explain the button. Maybe it was to turn on the turbo? Gas conservation? I really haven't a clue.

I'm not saying that VW are the best cars on the market by any means...I'm simply saying my car doesn't suck, is a lot of fun and is superior to many including that crap Smart"car."

Also, have you solidified plans for your bday? For some reason there's a delay between publishing and editing. This was not a case of glass walls and stone throwing.

(2) And not to be a raging bitch but I did a quick side by side comparison of the 2003 VW Jetta Wolfsburg and a 2003 BMW 325i. Their horsepowers are both in the 180 range so if you're trying to make the argument that your old BMW was more powerful than my current VW, you are incorrect, sir unless I'm mistaken and you had an M3 or M5. If that's the case, I can tell you that I've driven an M3 before and wasn't impressed. There's a delay with the turbo (longer than the delay in mine) and it didn't handle as well as I would expect for $70K+. Just sayin'.

Re: Do not ever fly with American. (from me). He slept on the couch for like two weeks in protest.

Re: tumblinas. — Change

As a clean cut girl who is happiest in dark jeans, a nice shirt, and heels, I find myself in a two year relationship with Mr. Cargo Pantz. He wears J. Crew type outfits to work, and I swear in the car on the way home, changes into his pantz (I actually accused him of this last night). He's the type of man who will have a conversation like this with me:

Him: Honey, I'm ready for the wedding!
Me: Babes, you can't wear sneakers to a wedding. Where is your tie? And Jacket?
Him: It's okay, the sneakers match the suit.
Me: Sneakers never match a suit...plus grey pinstripes don't match brown Etnies.
Him: FINNNNE.

I've been with him for nearly two years now, so I find it endearing. For some reason, if he doesn't have 7 pocket options, he starts to panic. So I've accepted it, and pick my battles (usually weddings and "events" like anniversaries). I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I never even thought to say anything until we were dating over a year. If there's this kind of struggle this early on, you guys might just not be right for each other. He should still be trying to impress you, and you him. If he's a musician/artsy type, his current style sounds kind of appropriate to me.

Re: tumblinas. — Job candidate I had a mini-crush on

There are two main writers...the Centaur and the Captive Lion.
