Your right, I didn't know they could reuse the spent fuel. I always thought it had to discarded totally, so if your correct I stand corrected. Amazing the technology today.

I worked at the GE plant during the 60's processing different enrichments of uranium for plants like 3 mile island, Tarapor, PG&E, and Dresden etc. Of course we all thought it was completely safe then as many do now. Then Three mile island went critical among others. Maybe you recall the uproar of the demonstrators? Hell, they were even picketing Livermore Lab. Were these the leftist-biased, ignorant mainstream or just people who don't want to see folks die? Ignorance is a word that is used so many times by the arrogant, who know everything, and use it to belittle others. I would say we should respect others opinions and not tell them to sit down and shut up, with all due respect.

Anyone who thinks nuclear energy is cheap better think again. Oil and gas are much cheaper, but there are other issues with U 2. There are only 10 mines that produce 55% of the worlds need for uranium. The rest is from nuclear arsenals being dismantled. Right now uranium is about 45 dollars a pound, down from over 200 dollars many years ago. There is going to be a huge shortage of fuel as right now there are about 200 reactors being built, and many more on the way right here in the US. So how much do you think uranium will cost? No doubt it's going through the roof. Disposing of the used fuel is a problem also, currently Yucca mountains are being looked at if not already being used for a disposable site. Sounds like we all should buy into NLR, uranium mines ETF.

I was burglarized a few years back, and its a feeling that won't ever leave me. I'm sure the homeowners are sorry now they didn't have their money in the bank, but I can feel their pain. After all, who wants to trust a bank these days? The theft was a violation that left me burning mad. To all homeowners, put your valuables in the bank, lock your windows/doors, and if all possible belong to a neighborhood watch. I'm so sorry for the victims and the crud's won, this time.

Actually, I was 13 when I started messing with smokes, and no, not one friend or aquantance of mine lived to 70 that smoked. Those that live beyond that are the exception not the rule. They died starting in their 40's of lung cancer with most dieing a horrible death around 65, directly caused by smoking. One had partial lung removal and that scar is something I won't forget.

I tried to edit my 35 year comment but was unsuccessful. I smoked for about 25 years. My point here is obvious. The best you can hope for is emphysema, but the choice is yours and I respect your right to smoke. Good luck, ya all.

Your right, of course. I was a smoker for 35 years myself. I would always hang with fellow smokers and defy those who objected. 25 years ago I quit, and those that didn't are all dead. It is your choice, of course.

I agree with about all you said here ned, for the exception of the 13 year old having some responsiblity. At that age they know everything and we adults are dopes. Been there and done that some 50+ yrs. ago. The dope here is the perp, and he'll LOVE PRISON!

We're not cheap, we're bankrupt, but still don't want something for nothing. Read the above with an open mind, appreciating the huge problems that face us all. It's ok to object, but then give an alternative solution to the problem. Unfortunately, I don't think there is one. What a mess we are all in.
