BIG change in tone and understanding once a few comments that were taken out of context get put back in it.

Yes, a bit harsh of an email but understandable. I'd feel the same way, even if I'm not the CEO and just a Product Manager. I want to work with people that truly believe on what we are working on and are committed to do whatever it takes to make it better.

I also think that some of David's comments and ideas are probably driven by all the articles in the last few months about how Jack Dorsey and the folks up at Square go about using and testing their products out on the while (also a strong signal that the team at Square is in full alignment towards a common goal)

As a CEO you need to have passion to lead, inspire and motivate and I think does where David's intentions. I'd rather deal with a CEO with strong personality than one with non at all.

Re: Want to use Snapchat? You might hire a candidate for his/her abilities to recruit "other" top candidates even if he/she is not top notch

2. You dismiss the important function that your own company's reputation plays in the situation. If you hire a great candidate who has 'followers-potential' but your company's reputation doesn't live up to the expectations then the 'followers' won't materialize but you'll place the blame on the original candidate and not necessarily look inward to see what signals your company is putting out that might be turning other candidates (followers or not) away

Re: Majority of Congress members now millionaires

Disgusting

Re: How to Make OKRs Actually Work at Your Startup

Interesting idea about setting goals and syncing them up across the organization as a way to empower employees to take ownership and accountability.

Three points I'd like to make:

1. Why the focus on quantitative results versus qualitative ones (output vs outcome)?
2. "people should be held publicly accountable for failing". Don't agree with this 100%. I think its good (and even needed) to have complete transparency on the performance of the company and what goals are being misses and make THIS public so the team can correct. But to point fingers in such a public manner I think will only result in people either leaving the company, or start to play it safe (old adage: praise in public chastise in private)
3. Red = stop using our site and conducting demos. Green = all's good, go ahead.

If for some reason the colors are intentionally assigned backwards, then you need to think about the added mental load placed on people to try to remember this 'new non-standard' convention (which for most people in a busy startup is an unneeded load) and the potential for OOPS when their learned mental model takes over.

I look forward to your insight.

Best,
Diego

Re: iPhone 5C pops up in clear iPod-esque packaging

OUCH! :)

Re: iPhone 5C pops up in clear iPod-esque packaging

True. Apple has never (that I know of) released a product, live alone an iPhone, in suck a visible package. The phone have always come INSIDE the box. This would be SO no Apple to release them like this. For Apple part of the experience of getting a product is building up the excitement through the packaging and opening of the box.
2. The screens visible on the phones are most likely NOT real. So they'll have to be some cheap print out (however good the quality) placed on top of the phone. Again, not a very Apple type move. This looks more like the cheap phone screen displays that you see when you buy cheap pre-paid phones at the supermarket!

Re: One Month Rails | Adding Bootstrap

UPDATE: It looks like 'ruby_noexec_wrapper' is missing from the /bin directory.

Any idea how I create/put it there?

Re: One Month Rails | Adding Bootstrap

Is anyone having issues running "bundle install" after adding "gem 'bootstrap-sass', '~> 2.2.2.0'"?

I get an error:

Errno::EACCES: Permission denied - /Users/Diego/.rvm/gems/ruby-2.0.0-p247/bin/ruby_noexec_wrapper
An error occurred while installing bootstrap-sass (2.2.2.0), and Bundler cannot continue.
Make sure that `gem install bootstrap-sass -v '2.2.2.0'` succeeds before bundling.

-----

I've been stuck here for 3 days and can't continue until the bundle installs completes successfully.
