Good band. I really need to put more time into getting to know their catalog.

3. If She Wants Me - Belle & Sebastian
How do they keep changing, while staying kind of the same, and consistently making great songs? I was sure "Dear Catastrophe Waitress" was going to be terrible. Thought the same thing about "Life Pursuit." Wrong on both.

4. Get Outta My Gal - Wonderful World of Joey
"Yes, Virginia, there really was a time in the 90s when kids listened to lounge and swing music. And you know what? It. Was. Awesome."

5. Cherio, Ta Ta, Toodle-oo, Bye - Singing Loins
Great Folk-Punk* duo from England. Don't know much more about them, aside from they're connected with Billy Childish in some way. I'm too old to care about bands' bios anymore.

*Stupidest label ever, but it gets the job done.

P.S. Just missed out on Poison's "I Want Action Tonight." It was number six, dammit.

What is the point of this article? Who cares if someone at MCGRAW-HILL is digging up decades-old FUD?

I understand the crusty old media being shown the door is angry, and that's OK. But I'm very disappointed in TPM for giving the losers a mouthpiece with which to yell at clouds.

Fantastic record. In many ways, his most fully realized work, despite the slight overglazing on the production side. Shame there was no place for this kind of music on the charts in 1991.

Well-said. And forgive me, but perhaps these are some of the reasons I drifted away from the Jefito/popdose sphere?

I find two forces pulling me away from new listening: my increased participation in creating music, and my advancing age. I just don't need to hear as much as I once did, and what I need to hear is rarely something new.

It sucks. I hate it. But I can't fight this feeling any more. I, too, find myself more interested these days in what music is, does, and how it comes to be. I guess that's navel-gazing, but it's a nice navel.

I'm also more critical of the stuff I care about. It's depressing when I can flick on the radio (YouTube, whatever), hear a brand new song, and know I could perform every part in it. I'm simply not that good... and neither is most of the new music I run into these days. And so I'm drifting backwards....

Ahhh, but I'm making this about me....

I'm eager to see where this goes, and I will make a point of checking in to popdose HQ more often. It helps that it's finally unblocked at my office. Thanks for this nice piece.

P.S. Reading this made me think of the long-gone and much-missed ILM.

I agree that this annual event is almost all iPod, and Apple rarely changes the curriculum. However, as the iPod is becoming less and less crucial to Apple, there is a better chance they'll stray from convention and also talk AppleTV. And I mean "AppleTV" I seriously doubt the "iTV" change.

However, as the last remaining neanderthal who uses the iPod Classic, the only thing I give a crap about is its fate. I want it bumped up to 200GB and I want the shitty OS/UI fixed. Sadly, it's much more likely they'll just drop it in lieu of a $499 128GB iPod Touch - which I'm not interested in.

And you know, I would be fine buying a black one now, then replacing it with a white model later, except we all know that second one would cost me full price.
