I'm actually pretty impressed with all that the app offers. You can download the Jesus Film in almost 1199 languages, the story of Jesus for Children in 150 languages, and quite a few different short films and movies. Once they are downloaded you can play them offline as well, which is definitely needed in many locations.

I think that tools like iPhones and other smart phones are brilliant for missionaries. With apps like the Jesus movie app and others it can help to equip missionaries to reach people that they would be otherwise unable to.

I'm sorry that not everyone sees it that way.

The fear of being thought of as a hypocrite has unfortunately often held me back from sharing and doing some of the things that God has called me to. Sometimes I feel like there is a need to "have it all together" before doing something, rather than just trusting that God can, and will, work through our best efforts.

Proverbs 24:16 says "For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again." and I find comfort in that.

Unfortunately there have been times in my ministry where I have been that "grumpy missionary". That has generally been the times of extreme overwork and essentially burning out. When I'm in that point of complete exhaustion I have not been very encouraging or uplifting to the people around me unfortunately ...

I think that sometimes I have found that the pressures to "perform" or fulfill all the "good things" that we are doing can lead to a point of serving at any cost. At times I had been encouraged to not do as much, but then also told that everything needed to be finished and there was no one else to do it.

Poor leadership I believe can lead to miserable servants and if we come across a location that seems to have a lot of miserable servants perhaps we should be looking at that leadership to see how we can deal with the underlying issues ...

When I submitted my current podcast, The Accidental Missionary, to iTunes I submitted my PowerPress feed and didn't bother with FeedBurner.

That said, I still use FeedBurner for the free email delivery service. I find it hard to beat that service and use it on most of my sites.

Our family knows how you feel Caleb. We have been here in Canada for 3.5 years where my family is from and we recently made the decision to move to Adelaide, Australia, where my wife is from. There is a lot of mixed emotion on our part, heartbreak on the part of my parents and overwhelming joy from my wife's family.

I'll be praying for you and your family.

I really enjoy the interaction that you have with your readers and listeners, both in the comments on the blog and in the podcast. One way that I have tried to increase the interaction on my own podcast is with a plugin called SpeakPipe,
https://www.speakpipe.com/. It lets people send free voicemail to you directly through a plugin on your web-site using the microphone built into their computer or IOS device. I have actually played some of the voicemail back on my podcast and people love hearing their own voice and then having you respond to them "live" on the podcast. Something to think about ...

Although I can't remember which episode you asked about how long the podcast should be, I would like to respond here. In my unqualified opinion I reckon that your podcast right now is almost too short, I could definitely listen to more Caleb on the podcast. One stat that I have used to help determine the approximate length of my own podcast is to keep it as long as the average commute time, about 24-minutes. That also happens to be about the average length of real content on a 30-minute radio show, so if someone wants to pick up your podcast in the future for radio the format length is already good.

That is, of course, just a guideline though. My last podcast episode went over 30-minutes because I included my wife in the podcast recording. She generally talks a bit more than I do ... ;)

My favourite reward from school, and the only one that I can actually remember what I got it for, was an award from my outdoor education teacher for "Experimentation with Pressure and Fire". I got the award for putting a can of clam chowder in a fire on an overnight camping trip. The can exploded, covering those of us around the fire in a fine white mist...

Just listened to this episode and felt very encouraged by your tips to give new life to an old podcast. After doing a podcast for 2-years I took an unofficial hiatus since December as I was feeling quite burnt out with it. We actually purchased a Kodak Zi8 for some of the videos that I do. On it's 720p 60fps it's a pretty good camera, and it also has a microphone input so I can use a lapel microphone with it, or tie it with a soundboard. Depending on what you do the external microphone option can be a real selling point.

Hi Cliff,

I sent you an audio comment about the "Facebook Like" image selection, but from what I have gathered Facebook pulls the first .gif or .jpg file that is in your content and puts that as the image on someone's wall. It does not, from what I can tell, work with .png files for the preview. If there is no .jpg or .gif in your article it will then, I gather, pull the first one from the sidebar.

Hope that helps, and I am curious to hear if this is other people's experience as well.
