I've also been working on forgiveness. It's the only way to serenity and that deep sense of spiritual connection I crave. Recently, I read a book by Jim Rosemergy (?), a Unity minister. His suggestion was this: write a blessing for a newborn child you love. Now read that blessing, substituting the name of the unforgiven one, and do this for forty days. At the end of the forty days, send that individual a good gift. I've come a loooooong way in forgiving the doctor who killed my husband's kidneys and a couple of men I hired who ended up stealing thousands of $$ from my business. This is my next step, to practice Rosemergy's recommendations in order to get absolute freedom. Thanks for the reminder.

I hate ~ HATE ~ those viral videos. I am afraid that the reason they go viral in the first place is that they support one or another negative stereotype. That's why they're sooooooo funny, that's why they get passed on and on. There are plenty of videos out there of white people doing incredibly dumbass and stupid things, rednecks showing their redneckedness to the ultimate degree, but they don't go viral. From my view in the land of rednecks, Tulsa, Oklahoma, I see people looking, laughing, and saying "yeah, just like . . . " and you can finish that. Makes me sick.

Most sane people would be skeptical about our Afghan war policy. IMO, Rolling Stone's one of the few outfits doing true, honest investigative journalism these days. I doubt Hastings has a mission of his own, except to expose the truth.

I think he's probably just trying to draw attention to himself. He's sort of a forgotten man. No big controversy about him. Really a moderate Republican, as they go these days. I do think it's the truth, that Fox and Ailes operate the only real functional propaganda arm of the Republican party. But it works for Scarborough to be the one to bring it up. Now everyone will be talking for days about how Republican Joe Scarborough! dished dirty on Ailes and Fox and the Republican party.

Or maybe I'm just sleepy and need a nap. And despise Scarborough.

Who's said anything about "the company he keeps?" And yes, it is about the stances he takes. Apples and oranges. Obama's "stances" are fairly consistently to the right of George Bush. Maybe you don't care about that for whatever reason, but I don't give a shit what the color of his skin might be, I give a shit about his policies and his "stances." Which thus far have sucked in almost every instance.

So you don't want people to have representation because they're "vile mofos"? Nice. I want to live in THAT America. In fact, that's pretty much what Obama's proposing: If you're a "vile mofo" and a terorrist, you can be consigned to prison with absolutely no right to be heard or to tell your version of events.

There are surely educated, skilled scientists and engineers in this country who are not affiliated with the petroleum industry.

It is to those individual Obama should turn for assistance with this disaster. Honest input into how to cap the leak and clean up the mess can come only from those whose primary interests are not (1) preserving profitability and (2) preserving public image.

When BP tells the EPA "no" and refuses to do as directed, that's when Obama ought to get on it in a loud and righteous way.

Beyond the disaster occurring in the Gulf, what's really shocking to me is how thoroughly the people in this country have accepted the capitalist propaganda that private is always better than corporate, and the best people work in business. It's simply not true.

And I trust a PUBLIC entity of the old style (pre-Reagan) to better do what's right for the people in this country and for the environment. I don't trust these vested-interest fuckers for a second and the idea that our government is doing so is outrageous.

You're right. I know it. I still live in a dream world of a competent taxpayer-funded federal government, one that didn't fuck up at every turn just to give the corporatocracy another opportunity for wringing $$ out of the economy.

And still I want it to be fixed. I want a grownup, a righteously angry, legitimate man or woman, to step up and take control. I want Russell Honore to stand up and start giving orders to those soulless fucks at BP, to rally the troops of citizens who are desperate to do something and aren't even being given a chance.

I want an active, nonpartisan press to get out there and tell the real story to the American people, even if it means mass hysteria. I am sick to death of corporations determining our public policy, what we're allowed to know about the world and our government.

And yes, what the Supreme Court has done is a travesty and I don't know that it can be undone in my lifetime, if ever. I am glad I am 53 and I grieve for my nieces and nephew and grands because I don't know what kind of a miserable fucking world they're going to live in. Serfs, peasants, and the overlords, I imagine, trying to eke out a living in a world wrecked by greed.
