I immediately tossed the sneakers that I bought along the route (in Soho, when we were forced down from the FDR onto surface streets, after being on the FDR from the very tip of Manhattan) for the rest of my 10 mile walk home. As soon as I got home, they were tossed - I never wanted to see them again... And I balled up my debris-covered suit and shirt, hoping that my dry-clearers could get all of that out (and they did!).

This is perfect, as it's really true. There are things that you can't act on at the time, but they complete distract you at the wrong time - asking you to think about them now, how about now, how about now - when you randomly see them on your desk and in your inbox. But I am completely guilty of putting them into a folder and never getting back to them. So having a process and regular plan to get back to the ripening items is key. Thanks!

Those two tools SO make my life easier and more mobile-friendly, able to get stuff done, and have info at my fingertips, no matter when I am! I actually did the opposite - premium account for Evernote (but not needed for most folks) and free account for Dropbox (I was lucky to be a relatively earlier adopter, so my account got lots of free space when friends joined in on using it too).

Evernote and Dropbox are the other two that I cannot live without. To be able to easily forward emails to Evernote, or to clip anything off the web (including articles or blog posts), or take notes during a webinar directly into it, or to drop a PDF document into there, knowing the character recognition will make even that content available - love it! And Dropbox is so convenient for having all sorts of document handy on all of my devices too.

No, the photographers link on the left are all of the advertisers on The Knot, and she seems to be. But she is not on the page of the 2014 Best of Weddings. And, despite her having the 2014 WeddingWire Couple's Choice badge on her website too, her listing on WeddingWire isn't clickable, so no reviews, and therefore not their award either. Both lies!

This is an absolutely perfect way to illustrate this! I have definitely gotten (and heard) comments related to what I do that way - you charge $550 to officiate a wedding, but the ceremony is only 20 minutes!?!? Yes, but each wedding is approximately a 8-10 hour process, leading up to and around that 20 minute ceremony. Plus all of the time spent like you discussed - creating a process that is easy for my couples to work through, creating emails and templates to make my process more efficient, researching different wedding traditions around the world and figuring out how to adapt and use them, researching great poems, songs, and pieces to suggest as readings or ceremony components, etc etc etc. I don't get paid for all of that time directly, but yet all of that time is part of what makes me and my service/product offering so different, and yes, worth significantly more than someone who treats it as a 20 minute ceremony and stands up reading the same piece for every couple.

I gotta say, Jer, I am one of those people who is annoyed beyond belief that I have to turn my Kindle off for the ascent and descent. This is my book, for pete's sake. The wireless is off, there can't be anything possible in having the Kindle on, and just turning pages, that affects anything about the plane and its controls or its communication. Considering the fact that they've said that even cell phones with people using them to communicate don't make a difference (and I'm thrilled they are still not allowed on at all, due to the noise situation that would result), how can a Kindle, iPod, iPad, etc affect anything at all, if it's not connecting to anything, but just a stand-alone at the time?!?! if our planes are that easy to take down, why would terrorists worry about trying to get bombs or flammable liquid on board? Bring a few more electronic devices. Seriously? JMHO...

We were in Caracas briefly a number of years ago, as it was a stop on our Caribbean cruise - I'm thinking even as long ago as 1994. Oddly, after stopping in beautiful places like St. Thomas, St. Martaan, Aruba, and Curacao, it was crazy to have a stop in Caracas. We heard rumors that it was because fuel was so cheap there, so the ships took advantage of being nearby and made it a stop for their convenience... Most folks only got off as far as the cruise ship terminal, where you could buy all the souvenirs you could want, and eat in restaurants there too. And I know the cruise line had tours they offered. We, actually, had an unusual situation in that we had a customer of our family's business, a Mail Boxes Etc franchisee, in Caracas, and he had placed an order with us recently. So, we'd told him we'd deliver it, since we'd actually be there only a few weeks later, randomly enough! Wow, was he surprised to hear that! :) So, we hired a driver with a van, and our family and another family with whom we became friends on the ship took off for a day tour with the driver, including a stop at the store to drop off the order. He brought us to an area that he said was safe for us to get out and have lunch at a little cafe on a square. But the rest of the time we were in his van. He drove us through the wealthy sections of town, showing us the incredible amount of security around each home. And it was the first time I saw broken pieces of glass standing straight on top of a wall around the home as an added layer of protection (that became a common sight for me when traveling around South Africa, especially Jo-burg). We saw the hills covered in slums from the road, and were amazed at the huge sense of poverty... And I was glad for this random opportunity to see a place I would never have imagined going to otherwise...

Very well put! I think that is the part that shocks me the most about that awful show - not only that these women seem more focused on getting work done than why they are getting married, but that the winner will show up at their own wedding without their groom having seen the "new" version of her. How wrong is that??? He proposed to the original you, not this changed you. And now he is supposed to stand there and still marry you? When you clearly didn't like the person who he actually proposed to? Sad!
