I tend to think of small children as I think of dogs...except dogs are cuter, friendlier, and less messy. I think the kid-on-a-leash idea is therefore perfectly natural. In fact, I like it. I think hauling a whiny litle kid on a leash around in public would give me great satisfaction.

Then again, this is one of the myriad and sundry reasons I should not and will NEVER reproduce.

My dad said one of the best remedies he figured out was actually gin-soaked raisins. The juniper berry in gin is good for breaking down uric acid, and soaking the raisins in gin gets you all the benefits of the gin without the negative effects of the alcohol, from a gout standpoint.
