If all government email can be requested by FOIA anyway, why not just require all of it to be put up on a website every year? Poof. You now have a ton of transparency, and have saved on a bunch of paperwork.

Just an idea. (Not even saying it's a good one, but really how much time is lost fulfilling these requests?)

Is it normal to have friends speak at conventions? The money thing is a dead giveaway, of course, but I'm drawing a blank on just friends speaking at conventions. It's mostly just party faithful isn't it?

Note I'm actually asking here, because I don't usually pay a whole lot of attention to either convention.

And why are more and more households slipping into the no FEDERAL income tax bracket? Because they are NOT seeing their wages go up, it's all flowing to the top.There have been huge increases in productivity, but workers aren't seeing any of that in their pockets it's going to executives. Also, notice that it's the federal income tax that they aren't paying. They are still paying plenty in sales taxes, property taxes and most definitely in payroll taxes.

A couple reasons, first one I'm not as sure about, but I think employers can offer health insurance as part of a compensation package and get tax breaks for doing it, so they are incentivized to do that.

Second, (and this I'm more sure about), collective bargaining. A company with many employees can get a much better deal on health insurance than a single person. It is an incentive to individuals to group up and employers have incentive as well, because they can offer better and cheaper health insurance than a competitor as part of their compensation thus getting better employees.

One of the down sides to all this is that individuals usually never know just how much health insurance actually costs. Another is that people can be tied to employers because they cannot get affordable health insurance while unemployed, or when trying to start their own business or when moving to an employer that doesn't offer it.

When you are making HUGE amounts of money, you think it's because you are smarter and better than people who aren't. You deserve to be compensated for the work you do because you are smarter and better. But the reality of finance was actually that it was all just one big bubble and everyone was hugely exposed with credit default swaps when they thought those were protecting them. If buying stocks and houses made you money in the past these experts thought it must always work that way.

Shame is, which analysis actually LEARNED anything and actually have advice that is worth more than a cup of coffee? Right now I'd not trust ANY of them (except Schiff) with the price of that coffee.

Honestly there is really only one answer. The NFL should be FORCED to create a true farm/minor league. That way kids that actually want a college education get one, and those that don't have a viable alternative to having no income while pretending to get an eduction.

Could you write a follow up to this? I'm not sure what you are trying to say. What situation are families making noise about? Are they complaining about other people 'coasting' (intentionally not working) or are they complaining about going onto food stamps themselves?

The higher your income bracket the higher you think 'middle class' makes. In Texas the average wage is around 43K. I think the 200/250 range is about right.

You know what the key to a healthy growing society is? Education.

Education pushes knowledge to the younger generation letting them build on the shoulders of those that came before them. Without education it's all gone [poof], and you end up with people living in a world they can't understand much less build or repair, but they can tear it apart.

That was a fun read. I kind of disagree about A&M. I think they'll fit just fine, but I agree with the 'S-E-C' chant. Why it exists and why it's so damn annoying. Also, It makes for a decent cheer. Try making a similar one for the Big 10 or 12.

Rich people (or any people really) can and will find ways around paying taxes. That should be a given. You can raise taxes and more people will try to avoid them, but the amount of revenues will still go up. There is a HUGE difference between trying to get around paying 15% of your income and 40% or 60%(insert sufficiently large number here) of it.
