Shame on you. The building could have been renovated with new curtainwall to replace the dated mirrored glass. A landmark building such as this would have worked with a number of applications. It takes some creativity to make it work. If a developer can transform the old OUC building into a boutique hotel, the same could have been done with this building.

You may not be able to appreciate the building's form, but it is well crafted. Anyone that has tried woodworking could appreciate how these concrete elements dovetail together. It's a complex and precise building. There were many opportunities for misalignment because of the faceted shapes and circular form. The concrete subcontractor also had to think in reverse to build the negative mold to produce the concrete elements. It's amazing that the designers and contractor produced this without a computer.

The lattice form is reminds me of jewelry. The shape would make a nice armband. The angled faces pick up the light and produces a gradated rhythmic pattern of shadows that animates the building during the day. I always enjoy driving by it daily and when the sun is low. As DPAC went up, I thought this compact spare building would be overpowered. It isn't and it looks good with DPAC in the background. The other surrounding buildings don't measure up.

Re: Downtown’s historic Round Building meets the wrecking ball next month

David J, why do you think this is an eyesore? If you are going to trash something, put some effort into it and show us some insightful architectural criticism.

Re: How I’m currently losing weight!

I lost my first 15lbs over 4 weeks. I'm due for that first plateau. So far its been good. I've been eating 300 to 400 calories per meal using lo cal prepared meals like healthychoice fresh mixers, vege burgers, and vegetables. The junk food is tough to stop eating because of the convenience. That's why I like the mixers.

I'm also exercising too. I do 30min of weight and core training and 30min of cardio each session 3x per week.

Re: I got a new job today!

Thought I'd say hello. I wanted to say thanks for getting me started on my weight loss program.
