The relationship component was important to hint at when designing this...not easy to do in such a short comic. Glad it came though.

Re: Calculating Stars, Chapter 3

Awesome, glad you liked it! I'm honored. Is your pinterest board public? I'd love to look at the research and see if there was any overlap. I probably researched 25-30 hours just to get background before attempting the adaptation.

Re: CrossFit Dream Teams

I disagree with the negative spin on this. This is a natural and IMO welcome evolution of the team side of the Games. It's very clear the Games are a television sport now, so having "super teams" makes it more entertaining and, frankly, more watchable. If you're going to watch the games and be a fan (which I am), you have to embrace the entertainment side of it. Also, if you look at most any other pro sport, you'll see club teams that recruit from all over the world. It's an ancient practice. My prediction is you'll start to see well funded affiliates turn into training centers where athletes flock from all points to train and compete and start to receive jobs and stipends for joining the team.

Re: Inequality and Misogyny in the CrossFit Gender Games

Patrick, this is a good issue to tackle. However, I would implore you to speak directly with Kristan Clever, Becca Voigt, and Reebok to get their side of the story. Speaking with sources and checking for accuracy is a basic principle of journalism. What happens if Clever turned down the TV spot for some reason? There could be a variety of other factors involved. You have no way of knowing that Clever was passed over and that discredits your article. As a journalist, you need to be responsible in your reportage.

Re: Thoughts on Kokoro One Year Later

Jarie, thanks for reading and writing in! In retrospect, 007 was the most difficult of the three because of those factors: cold, wet, sandy. The warm GRC's have their challenges, namely staying hydrated, but there's nothing like being wet and cold for hours. Jason pushed us the hardest by far of the three and that mental component added an additional suck factor.

I'm holding off on Selection until after I get through Kokoro Camp in August.

Re: My Three-Year Relationship With CrossFit

Hi GK, I've surfed into the OPT website but I'm not overly familiar. I do believe that performing, being on stage, and being judged for your efforts is an important part of the human experience. Whatever your passion is, be sure to put yourself out there and perform.

Re: Review: GoRuck GR2 XL Overnight Ruck

The RUSH line of packs from 5.11 Tactical are in the same ballpark and I recommend them. (At least we have an excuse which is the, you know, water). What it boils down to is this: the brothers and sisters are out playing "sports."

Re: How to Reduce Injury in CrossFit

Thanks for the link to the resource page! Some awesome resources on there, I read one of the articles and started going through the MWOD videos already. To answer your question, I'm just this week changing up my training schedule drastically to reduce the loads on my shoulder (ie doing much less crossfit) and implementing a rehab and mobility regimen. I'll keep you updated.

Re: Review: GoRuck Challenge Tampa – Class 083

Iassen, thanks, I updated the link above.

Re: Training for the GoRuck Challenge

Stephen, if you can afford to go to a CrossFit gym 2-3 days per week, that's a good start. That will generally increase your fitness and strength. Besides that, go on weighted runs every week and gradually increase your distance and load. Start off slowly. If you're at 3 miles now, work up to a 5 miler, than do a 5 miler with a light load, say 10-15 lbs. Go up from there.

Re: Review: GoRuck Challenge Tampa – Class 083

Hey Jarrett, it was great to hang with you at the GRC. I thought you did a great job on that last mission, which was the toughest (and longest) mission of the day.

Re: GoRuck Training: Robocop Legs

Norman, thanks for reading and commenting. If you're doing the Jax event, either UA or Nike gear will do just fine from a temp standpoint. I prefer compression gear because I like performance clothing that's tight, especially since you'll be in the water. Hat and gloves: yes, I stashed them in my bag whenever I knew we were about to hit the beach. That's not as easy as it sounds because you're getting hustled into the water by the instructors. We got wet on three separate occasions with multiple hours in between, so it was tricky keeping anything dry for the whole event. The only thing I successfully kept dry the entire time was my hat...gloves were soaked a couple of hours in.

Re: Review: Metro Dash with a GoRuck Pack

Wow that would have been awesome!
