I totally agree.  I really think background audio for user-selected apps would cover the “multi-tasking” needs of most people, myself included.  This is a pretty slick solution, and I guess a few other streaming audio apps do the same thing (which I wasn’t aware of).  I think (hope) the time may come when there is a more official solution to this, but we shall see.
