I think my motivation was that I wanted to display our dishes, I kind of
like the look of open shelves for dishes and glasses. I don't mind the
books on teh open shelves, maybe I just need to rearrange them.

This is our kitchen, http://whatbrookedoes.com/p..., all of
those books on the left side of the picture are what I attempted to put into
that hutch that is against the far wall on the right side of the kitchen.
We'll definitely invite you up one of these days once we've completed more
of the work on the rest of the house. I do enjoy the nesting, especially
since I'm not that organized of a person normally. I just wish I could be a
little more productive with it!

Oh no, you didn't miss anything, we haven't found out what it is but I often
accidentally refer to it as a boy. Good to know about the hemnes dresser, I
was a little worried that it's too high to double as a changing station.

It's really weird, from my experience I've found that nursery furniture has
some of the longest inexplicable backorders. I think a lot of companies do
one or two production runs a year and if they sell through their product
before the year is up, they just put you on a waiting list for the next run.
Definitely let me know if you give up!
I'm doing alright, I've had horrible colds for most of December and it has
been awful not being able to put myself in a nyquil/theraflu coma, which is
my usual cold mo. But other than that everything is going really well, I'm
feeling the baby move so much these days, pregnancy is getting a lot more
fun!
