Thanks for the comment, brylliant. Yes, ‘servus’ as a salutation would certainly fit in with the purpose of the rack; greeting you at the door as you arrive home, and seeing you off as you walk out! Since that use of the word does stem from the original Latin meaning of the word (according to Wikipedia, at least), I think that it all makes for a smart name for this project.

I mentioned the Latin reference in the post, and that reference alone, because the designer specifically pointed it out in the (German) product description here:

Well I would rather say simple than unimaginative; just like Mail, Voice, Plus, Docs, etc. There's a strategy to this. They WANT it to align with the Google company name, rather than present itself as an independent service. My thought is that one should not try to be too overly clever when naming a service with this strategy in mind. Google is the brand (and a recognizable name, unique in and of itself), and Play fits in nicely with the other simple, undisguised service names, in my opinion.

Angelina, I am truly honored that you enjoy this humble little blog. I love sharing these awesome things by awesome people with other awesome people. In my mind, the end-result is total worldwide awesomeness.

I apologize, however, for the letting the blog waste away over the last few months, but I assure you that it is not abandoned. I am currently working on a superbulous update to HELLO that will revise the design as well as my blogging schedule.
