I greatly enjoy the ham-fisted way the 2015–2017 logos turned the U and L into a cactus goal post, but I'm glad they moved away from that.

I think the parody argument is stronger in copyright law than in trademark law. In trademark cases, the key question is usually whether consumers are likely to think there's an affiliation between Patagonia and Pattie Gonia. Furthermore, Pattie Gonia isn't really criticizing Patagonia, as they supposedly have the same environmental goals, and that would probably weaken a fair use defense. Ultimately, the prior agreement will probably outweigh any conversation along these lines anyway.

It originally stood for "Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays", later changed to "Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays". Now PFLAG treats the name as a standalone acronym that doesn't stand for anything, because they wanted to broaden their support beyond lesbians and gays. I think this was a better solution than expanding to PFLAGBTQIA+

With over 1,000 Pokémon (and as some have different forms), that's a lot of logos! These must surely have been automated to some extent. But some of them have a special touch, like Charizard's claws reaching out in front of the Poké Ball shape. As Charizard is a very popular Pokémon, he's clearly a special case. Without looking through all the logos, I assume there are only a handful of exceptions like this.

The maple leaf isn't in perspective like the rest of the logo, right? This is bothering me. It's as if the maple leaf is even moreso just "tacked on" to distinguish it as Canadian Denny's.

Most people aren’t aware that marshmallows contain gelatin, an animal product derived from collagen. I've always been somewhat discomforted by depictions of animal-derived foods being personified and portrayed as joyful, like the McDonaldland Chicken Nugget characters. It creates a fantasy for consumers that animals are consenting and happy about the whole industry.

People are familiar with Dairy Queen as a brand, but I think they were having some brand tension because of people associating them only with dessert and not their burgers and other menu options. They now have "Grill & Chill" on a big sign under their logo, but I remember when it said "Restaurant", as if it wasn't clear what a DQ is.

I didn't see it as a hoodie until I scrolled down to the vinyl figures. I thought it was supposed to be a twinkle twinkle little star inside a large black holding shape.

The animation of the "star" spinning through the various facial expressions didn't help. Openings in hoodies don't spin like that.

The new logo gets rid of the elephant ear, which I think is a step too far in simplifying the logo. But if you didn't know that the top left corner is meant to indicate a dog-eared notebook page, you might think that it is meant to be the elephant's ear. And so you might think that Evernote has no idea what an elephant's ear looks like!

With the move toward focusing on the square shape of the Starburst, I find it curious that the gummies and the taffy wrappers still have the "S within a teardrop shape" design. It seems like a good opportunity to bring the S out of the teardrop holding shape and let the S take center stage, like in the merch and social media icon. The S contains its own teardrop shape anyway!

It's disappointing to have such a storied, detailed illustration shrunk down so insignificantly small on the packaging. But if you want to see true loss of detail, check out their favicon.
