hannah - sorry! i was trying to be funny by spelling 'Mahmoud Ahmadinejad' to "help" you (thus not pronouncing it and being no help whatsoever). Also, I didn't mean for you to actually think that I thought you couldn't pronounce his name. I am going to go drink now and figure out if I got that last sentence down correctly.

i wrote the following to my rperesentatives when they tried (and succeeded) in adding a constitutional ban on gay marriage in my state:

I am extremely embarrassed and disheartened to learn how you voted on the
Civil Unions and Marriage constitutional amendment. To deny a person's
freedom based on your religion and prejudice is the antithesis of what this
country stands for. To deny a person's freedom in the name of morality and
ethics when that freedom harms no one is the antithesis of what this country
stands for. To deny a person's freedom just because that civil liberty
makes you uncomfortable is the antithesis of what this country stands for.

To think that you represent me in the state legislature through this bigotry
is appalling. It is my earnest hope that you remember the principles upon
which America was built.

man, the thing to remember is that while nearly half the country disagrees with you, nearly half the country agrees with you! seriously - you've got about half the country agreeing with you. that's huge!

i, on the other hand, have about .0000003% of the country agreeing with me. and i'm not even able to drink to deal with it!

don't forget about small government (department of homeland security.) to go along with that fiscal conservatism (bailout, budget deficit, corporate welfare).

i'm amazed that republicans aren't up in arms about the last couple years. if i belonged to a political party i would make damned sure that my political party was doing things right.

hannah: i, too, am afraid of regular balloons you blow up. never know when they're going to pop - the tricky bastards. and the squeaky noises they make. and THEY COULD BLOW UP AT ANY TIME!!! and the "chewwwwwww" sound they make when they're blown up. and KABOOOOOM!!! and all that gross, slimy spit-laden air inside of them. and BANG!!! and that weird, organic looking tied-off/knotted part that looks all squishy and naughty compared to the rest of the smooth, inflated balloon. and KAPLOOEY!!!
