Thanks for pointing that out. It’s true that a state like California can be a model for other states based on the assumption that if something passes, the majority must be doing something right. The AB2072 model is not a just model and it requires more due process.

The past 4 years I have seen that this "Orange Juice" v/blogger has never been objective and has a history of misrepresenting individuals and groups to the point that such discourse or reputation is misleading and damaging toward the general Internet reading public. Orange Juice admitted in public of having Asperger syndrome (high functioning level of autism) which his social skills are often erratic and rather disconcerting to many of us who knows him. Thanks for bringing this up in the blogosphere to warn others of being potentially misled by this one-sided mind set.

Tomorrow, I am going to Sacramento to give my support to encourage the commission to revisit this bill and ensure transparency with the professionals from the signing Deaf community to be involved for input and guidance for a fair amendment. Indeed, we have the sense to care that ASL truly matters and in this modern age, it is unfair to allow special interest groups free reign to determine and misrepresent parents of Deaf children.

Re: Netflix CEO really doesn’t care about subtitles/captioning

Just about when I was going to join. Lame. Not necessarily apply only for the disabled but the general population but it's still unfortunate to miss out the huge potential deafened subscriber base. Documented text can be used for other things like advertising, promos, and games, etc. instead for movies themselves. Thanks.

Re: WE SKYDIVED!!

Awesome dive vlog. I'm glad your time away was productive. My current semester is so insane that I just have to dissociate myself away from DVTV and Facebook. Lord knows I had too much fun online back then. Good luck with the EHDI presentation, etc. I like the bilingual joke shirt as well. No shame in being Deaf. I gather from experience that those who are insecure or self-conscious has issues with it. Apparently they rather adapt to the medical model that they are "broken" and need constantly to be "fixed." "Hearing-impaired" is less than hearing indeed which indicates a badge of denial or inferiority.

Re: Linear vs. Circular thinking: Which is better?

Yup. Too many circles make the straight line dizzy. To achieve the big picture, we must go forward to the 'straight and narrow' to accomplish things. Any constructive feedback or input or support that helps us to go forward is always appreciated.

Here's what I posted at DeafChipmunk before I had it removed cuz of my "tongue in cheek" dig to Karen (sorry).

"I rather see us go linear (progress) than talking in "circles" (endless spiral of circular reasoning) of whom or what is bad or wrong and so on. I'd like to see closure on this so we can move on and strive to do better and produce some kind of differences. "

Circular reasoning mucks things up and constitutes of crab theory. We need to keep the eye on the prize, the big picture straight ahead of us. Language rights, Deaf Education, equal communication access, and so on.

Re: AGB’s at it again!

Typical what they said. It only leaves us to promote ASL more. There are some who think we need to work with AGB which is incredibly a non-feasible idea since a century has passed that they continue to celebrate "speech" from Deaf children despite including actual linguistic access to an organic language that Veditz claimed that God has provided for them. DBC need to set up conferences and workshops and work with the media far away from AGB centers, IMO. Make AGB as irrelevant as stranded barking seals on an island. I always see AGB as a fraud and thief of the Deaf spirit anyway.

Re: DeafRomance: our first resident spammer?

Yea, noticed that. I remember your early vlogs, you need new vlog something again! A friend and I put up a video clip on a website in 1996; not a vlog, just a video of diving club or news clip. Who knew ten years later, I'd be vlogging. I included a link here from my site that someone documented vlogs for Gally protest: The Unity for Gallaudet movement, 2006.

Re: Notes for my full presentation for b/vlogging conference at Gallaudet University

Good job. Indeed, it's a more sophisticated word for "ghost" or "walking dead" that sometimes I feel when walking on campus or being in classrooms, knowing I'm one of the few deaf there. I am on my own. Whatever realities that demote me as a deaf person, I must create and manipulate to participate. Requires thick skin and humor really. While I may have different experiences than a late deafened or non-signing person, the journey we take may pretty much be the same, to become whole and accepting of self. Thanks for sharing this.

Re: Auto Gordian Knot: An easier way to add subtitles to your video clips

Was able to make it work with a sample .avi and former .sub text file. File size reduced to half. Seem easy to use (if one already have some captioning exp.), I disabled the audio option thou to remove background noise. Like VirtualDubMod, it can't play .wmv file that my other webcam produces. I use SUPER to convert .wmv into mpeg or such, but I suspect there may be some video loss in transition.

Re: Auto Gordian Knot: An easier way to add subtitles to your video clips

Thanks Jared, I'll give it a try when permitting.
