I want to ask him WHAT in world he is trying to say, he certainly didn't make a point. I think he believes this idiot law anout water not hydrating... Kadoo's are inappropriate, hello, the man ran off, IF he had been carried off in a body bag, THEN brag about what she did... Here is something don't pull a gun unless you intend to use it, and scaring soneone with it is NOT an option... I've pulled a gun on an intruder in my home once, he was DOA when the cops arrived...

Re: Truck inspections: Rolling with Roadcheck | Fleet Owner

Now, if we could only get them to do the same to the '4-wheelers...' Truckers are hounded for safety and banned from the left lane in most cities... This thing is so backwards... Smaller vehicles cause most of the problems and scream at truckers and the authorities listen..., truckers don't vote as a rule, they don't have the lobby as do the others, truckers are dumped on when it should be the other way round...
Not saying truckers are saints, lots of them bring trouble on all of us, but, not anything to the extent that do the '4-wheelers' and they skate, how did it get so far out of proportion...?
Simple, ignorance on the part of those making the rules... Total ignorance of the real situation out here on the road...

Re: Hours-of-service regulations: Teamsters, Public Citizen call for new HOS rules | Fleet Owner

I agree with Jimmy and David! I to, believe every driver should be able to pull over when tired!
Take breaks, catch a 30 minute nap, like David says.. It does wonders for the driver! I've been driving for 40 years accident free, I can tell you that pulling into a truck stop to shower, eat, and get some sleep leaves little time when you can't go to sleep from being all keyed up from the road... But, when you are driving along and almost fall asleep, catch the next rest area and you are asleep in a minute!
(Kadoos to Jimmy for 30 years accident free!! Hey Jim, let's start a club for drivers with accident free driving, we could maybe help 'educate' the younger drivers!!!))

Re: Graves not sure if we’ve hit bottom yet

Don't know if this is a good time to mention it, but, for years truckers have talked about a strike to bring down fuel prices, (as far back as 1993, but, most companies wouldn't do it and independents couldn't afford to sit...).
Since a lot of us are sitting now 3 or 4 days a week, times are hard, let's sit out longer and see how far the fuel will drop, hell, it can't hurt much more than it alrady does...
Just a thought...
(Anybody know where to buy those 'Lot Lizzard Dolls you can hang in the window?) baatman74@aol.com

Re: New analysis highlights rear-end crash causes

I have driven trucks on and off since 1964 when I made my maiden run to California and back from Chicago..., I wasn't old enough to be insured, I went with a moonlighting older man who just needed some company.
What that trip did for me was to awaken me to the joys of driving a big rig, and doing it RIGHT! Since then, (I am presently 70 years old and driving an 11 car auto transport 'Stinger' out of Naples, Florida), I have driven a number of vehicles from F-350's pulling a 6 horse trailer to this car hauler that is 75' long.
I have driven in heat, snow & ice, rain storms, smoke, fog in the dead of night, 8 years ago I owned 6 Tri-axle Dump Trucks, I have over a million miles of accident free driving...
What is my secret? It is as simple as this story here about following too close... Just don't do it... I worked for an old gravel hauler in 1993 who said to me, if you drive from Naples to Tampa, (150 miles) and find you have to hit the brakes a couple of times, you are not watching and most likely following too close...
His revolution was not wasted on me, nor new, I had know this from day one......
Folks, if you want to end the rearend crashes, set a new policy... Put it on the bulitian board, if you are at fault in a rear end crash, REGARDLESS of the circumstances, you are fired, NO exceptions....
End of story, to me, there is NO excuse...
